wish vinyl was scratch proof...I'd still have tons of great records. _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. Once Eisley hits it big and makes millions, you can buy one Boyd, and the world will be right, and no more vinyls will go the way of the dinosaur _________________ welcome to the no pants club boone |

don't sound the same at all....all wigged and sonically, excessively brilliant...revealing stuff that was never heard back in the day. It's annoying. Vinyl...yes. I had quality wow and flutter back in the 80's, but "the bolt" visited our house. Little Eisley's saw the bolt... plugs blew out of the wall, sparks shot out, a fireball blasted thru the house, leaving my Onkyo turntable, reciever and power amp...and TV, VCR, recorder, dead. awww... hey! maybe it was a sign from God! but, insurance told me it was an "act of God". oh well. awsome boyd had a turntable like mine score, ive had it for years it was my dads but he never used it so i have it now . it was a pain finding new needles for it _________________ www.capricorn15.net http://img17.photobucket.com/albums/v50/tgukempire/

Here's a few thoughts and opinions. When questioning CD's vs. Vinyl I have learned that it all comes down to the quality of the mastering. Some albums I prefer on vinyl and some I prefer on CD. The problem is that there are a just bunch of bad sounding CD's out there. However, if the mastering engineer really knows what he is doing while mastering a CD, it will sound good. The problem is that there are only about ten people on the planet who truly know how to master a CD and capture the analog sound correctly. Although I generally prefer vinyl over CD's I have found some CD's that actually improve on the original vinyl because better remastering engineers worked on the projects. It's all trial and error, if you buy a CD and hate the way it sounds, try to find a vinyl copy and often you will see an improvement. You can also find differences in different pressings of the same album. For example, I hate the way the American Beatles albums sound; I prefer the original British pressings due to their superior quality. Today, engineers depend way too much on protools and other digital toys and have placed convienence over quality. Any engineer who tells you that there is "no difference in quality between analog and digital recording" needs to have their ears examined. Most seasoned engineers agree that it is best to stay analog until the last possible moment and then do your digital transfer without going through digital processors such as noise-reduction, digital EQ, and compressors. Even though you are still moving from analog to digital, you capture all of those ornaments of the master tape that make analog sound so much warmer and natural. The more digital elements you add into the recording/mastering process, the more cold and harsh it will sound. Also, a lot of those vinyl LP's you see are the shelves today are not analog recordings as they were cut straight from the exact same digital masters as the CD's were burned from. SO WHATS THE POINT! I would rather have CD that was burned from a digital source than an LP that was cut from a digital source. The point of vinyl is to get that natural, warm, pure analog sound. When you cut an LP from a digital master you lose all the elements that makes analog sound great. _________________ If ignorance is bliss then whipe that smile off my face |
