First of all- Boyd, you should have gotten the service plan, lol!!!

Secondly, my boyfriend is Senior over the computer department at Best Buy here in Tyler. I'm not promising anything because he hates my Eisley obsession... but I'll have a talk with him.

And lastly- Ideal and Sherri have a very interesting point. I strongly suggest another Tyler show specifically to raise laptop money. I'm already having Eisley withdrawals!

Not to bash Mac, but I know Dell has an insurance type thing for accidents such as the one Boyd encountered. I have a 2 year warranty on my laptop, and oddly enough, the screen stopped displaying. I sent it in, and they replaced it, promptly. It was returned with haste, all shipping and delivery paid for.

Does Mac have something like this?

People....there won't be another show for this. We don't have the power to do that kind of stuff.
Read my earlier reply! It explains a lot.

Also, the reason that there is not warranty on his computer is because we tried to do the reasonable thing and bought a refurbished model.
It had not warranty.

Yes, they have 3-year AppleCare plans but most warranties only cover manufacturing defects not accidental damage so it wouldn't have helped anyway. You can buy third-party laptop insurance that does cover accidental damage though.

Yeah, iwasn't expecting another show (just wishful thinking I shouldn't have said outloud)... the warranty on anything is not all it's cracked up to be. I have a laptop that I spent a lot of money to get a warranty for ... and it's messed up and that $300 has gotten me jack. My refurb G4 has been nothing but joy, though (I didn't spend the extra money this time). Disasters happen, and those things are full of technicalities. I just hope Boyd can get something up and running again. Neutral

I'd just like to mention that during an awful storm one awfully stormy evening a tree also fell upon, and of course, crushed our dear trampoline. But of course we used my sisters birthday as an excuse to get a new one. I feel your pain, DuPree family, I do.

I don't think he lost anything; the monitor is what's damaged, so he can't access anything. Correct me if I'm wrong, though... Hopefully it can be fixed fairly quickly, as I'm sure it's frustrating to not be able to get to important documents.

ok, lots changed since i went into my meeting a couple hours ago, but i'll try to catch up. lol.

Sherri please, please, please do not feel guilty about starting this post. same with you Boyd. Don't feel guilty, please please don't. We want you to have it. Seeing how my arms are about 2600 kms too short can someone give the DuPree's a super big hug for me. Smile i love you guys. if there's one thing I can say it's this... i hope when I grow up (ok i'm 25 as it is) but when I have kids... I hope I can be as great with my kids as you are with yours Boyd and Kimbrtones. It brings tears to my eyes how so devoted you are to your kids. You've raised them well. I'm happy to donate, whether you use it to fix your computer or your fence or your trampoline. I do it because I want to. Heck, if I was down there I'd try and help you fix up your fence and shed. (i sit in front of a computer all day at work, so it'd be my pleasure to be able to work outside Wink

bless you DuPree's for opening up your lives to thousands and sharing so much.
