i think i've pretty much introduced eisley to everyone i speak to on a regular basis... most of them seem to be keen on the whole idea... i know that when i went off to college i made a little hive of followers there so, i think if you guys hold the course you will have the slow steady growth needed to make a lasting and supportive fan base. eventually you guys will take over the world. |

You know, it's kind of ironic, I was listening to Avril Lavigne as I read the first post. I don't think she sucks at all, as a matter of fact, I think she's quite talented. She's not a musical genius or anything, but she has a few songs worth listening to. As I'm sure Eisley is learning at this very minute, the record biz can be a pain in the ass sometimes. The execs want a marketable product that fits neatly into a popular format. Avril's first album was alot better than her new one, in my humble opinion. I'm sure she got a memo or two from the faceless corporate giants to make sure that her new album had some 'hip' and 'catchy' songs on it that would appeal to the broadest demographic. Hence the 'ti-ee-yi-ee-yime' and such. Avril is as real a person as all of us I would guess. I'm sure if you told her she was a no-talent poser she would be just as hurt as you or I. I actually heard of Eisley by word of mouth, you know, a friend of a friend and so on. I think they definately have that certain little something to sell some records. But I don't think anyone has really heard enough of them to tell whether their popularity will grow beyond the small group of fans they have now. It's shame that having talent is only a tiny fraction of what it takes to become 'big' in the music industry. The band really has to ask themselves the question: "What are we here for?" Are you in it to make millions? Or are you in it to share your talent with the world? Asking the fans whether or not you've got what it takes is kind of silly. Of course the fans are going to say yes, I mean come on, their your FANS. Look inside for the answers to your question Grasshopper. |

i am constantly handing out links and cds and such things to my friends slowly turning their minds towards eisley and most of them like it. i got my friend's entire family to listen to eisley and like it. in fact i was over her house the other day and the eisley cd i gave them was playing and her mom says it had been playing for a long time. and this family is in the music business too, my friend and her mom made a cd and now she wants to make one with her sisters. but now they are fans of eisley and look at their story for inspiration. peace, -noah _________________ The grass is green and the sky is blue My head is clear and my thoughts are true "I wish I could just hug you all, but I'm not gonna" Layne Staley 1967-2002 come read me stuff, some say it's nice |

I've shown quite a few people, most were quite impressed, really. Ok, lyrically they are different than mainstream but atleast they write their own music. On top of that, I think their voices and instrumentation make up for what ever flaw can be found lyrically, stacy's and sherri's voice make it difficult to be troubled by lyrics on fairy's and horses and whatnot. So what I'm saying is, they don't have to sing like Avril or even dress like Britney to be great, they just are. Most people I've introduced Eisley to seem to feel the same way. _________________

this one sucks... everytime i try to say something about eisley to my sisters, one is ok with it, but really isn't interested because she likes hiphop/r&b... and the other one is into different genres/eclectic music like me, but she gets annoyed! wtf!? i've asked my friend to check them out, but it was too soft for him... he said, "meh." my mom likes it a little and my dad, well, he could care less about music... anyway, besides those incidents, i haven't gotten much appreciation. damn... i need to find more eisley fans... maybe it's just where i am, but i see a lot of people in texas like them (obviously)... i should get a sound system for my car and blast eisley |

case study: the contrast between seeing radiohead on the tour just after the bends in a smallish venue in salem oregon where we stood close enough to see the dots in thier eyes - where the crowd had this communal feeling where we all assumed a certain commonality (and half the people I saw I'd seen at other shows or already knew) and then years later at the gorge (huge venue eisley played with coldplay on that tour) seeing all these people - throngs of shirtless ambercrombie jocks with their hats on backwards for example - people i might have thought in a snobby way shouldn't be at "our" radio head show with thier eyes squeezed shut singing the words and being lifted out of their skin by what was being said and being played. i was caught between being excited at this reception one of my favorite bands was getting and wanting all the "others" to get the heck out of our show. anyway - i think that all these unexpected folks were there because as obscure as radioheads music had gotten by that point - all but a few songs not radio friendly at all etc etc when thom is ripping his throat singing about feeling trapped, or consumerism, or lonliness, or having had enough wiith all the political b-sh** that permeates our media and minds etc etc so many people feel it through him. his wails are their hearts. in my observation this is what ties people to a band for life - what makes people across vast spectrums make an affiliation in their heart and reward that with their $ and time. all of this to say - bands who are different absolutely have the ability to connect - to have a big enough fan base to make a living and keep making records. i think eisley can do it - i hope that they will believe this more and more as they grow in understanding of who they are and what special lens they can give to listeners to see the world through - and that they are allowed to get it out in a truthful way because I know that they are brilliant and dear people and I know that if they hold on to their courage they'll be able to encourage and help bring on tears and heal and fortify listeners in the way that our most beloved music does ... into the future. remember how you came to love some of the songs you identify with the most. i had an orange memorex tape with disintegration on it that an older friend had made for me that i played my friends in the 7th grade in my room until it broke. i had no idea who the cure was or that there was a whole subculture of people who'd been devoted to them for years or that eventually half my friends and i would have all their records and be devoted fans, quoting lyrics in love notes and imagining those songs as the soundtrack to our coming of age. by the time my understanding of their presence in the world developed (or i even knew what they looked like) they had me for good. |

not that my last post wasn't looong enough but i was just reading through some others and wanted to say that i totally agree with part of another post: "It's shame that having talent is only a tiny fraction of what it takes to become 'big' in the music industry. The band really has to ask themselves the question: "What are we here for?" i've seen lots of really talented people not make it by MTV standards (which come on are totally inflated now - like if you're not ON tv your a loser) who make a living and are loved and satisfied with their careers and they have a freedom they wouldn't have otherwise - being "huge" is like getting into debt in a way - you can get some awesome stuff and forget the ways in which you pay for it. it's not necessarily the golden ticket. you guys ((boyd excluded ha ha) are so young. no matter WHAT remember that you started this out a love for music and need to express your hearts in this way - a gift and talent from god that's been fostered by your parents - not for the game and the dough. with that carrot dangling in front of you you've got to bee wary of comparisons and fend off anxiety. be at peace with the reality that you have choices to make and make them from your heart and you'll have no regrets be led not driven - be thankful not envious or scared - all that good stuff and you'll find joy in your day to day which is really quite an awesome adventure - you'll see down the road looking back. lots of unnecessary advice from someone who's watched lots of folks go down all kinds of roads. if happiness and wholeness is what matters keep THAT in the fore front if it's not well...I know it is so lets not go there. |

I've been raving about this band to everyone I know. Out of over a dozen ravings (most of my friends were already familiar with them), I've only gotten one sort-of negative response (then again this was from a hardcore Pumpkins fan). _________________ Coprophiliacs make sh*tty lovers.
