Wow! Amen!

I'll second that amen. There are few things that piss me off more than the modern church's attempt to be "cool", since it normally results in downplaying the importance of the gospel. Apparently, the central message of the Bible just isn't cool enough to talk about any more.

Just to clarify, I do agree with what you said spheric1. Basically, as was explained by Jonathan Clark (and Kim, and others), I don't believe in Christian music anymore than a Chrisitan CD player, which is why I use quote marks around it. (with the exception of the last sentence just because that's what people are referring to here)

POD, Sixpence, etc. - great bands that have Christians in them, but in my mind aren't really "Christian" bands, because they don't pigeonhole themselves there. "Christian" bands in my mind are like: Newsboys, Zoegirl, all CCM, etc.

So I'm not trying to say there are no talented bands whose members are Christians.. but the ones that are, tend to not be "Christian" (even though they get labeled as such because we Christians love to cling to things).

Christian is a noun.

Yeah, I know. I was just sorta running off what you said.

Yeah, it works a lot better that way. Unfortunately it's still being used as an adjective way too much, with no clear meaning at all.

i just can't weigh in on this. it's too self-indulgent. i would be sinning. a gluttenous, self-absorbed bash fest would come-a-skithering from my shot gun head - splattering innocent victems...all for sordid gain and filthy lucre'. and when the smoke trail dissapeared into the g.u.i., it just wouldn't feel as good as I thought it would.

"BUFFORD, I"M CALLIN' YOU OUT!"

no, just kidding. this is a good thread.

I hear ya. I get tired feeling like I'm just whining, but it's good to discuss in order that we and other may not make similar mistake in the future. Now if I could just find a good drummer for my band....

I beat this subject up every day of my life. I have novels of scratchings and scribings and e-communications that never end. I'm out.
