I must say I really enjoy all of them. In particular the harmonies on Lost at Sea, I cannot get enough, I didn't even listen to them until after I posted them on my AIM profile, hopefully my peeps will check them out. Golly Sandra, I really cannot wait till the album comes out! _________________ If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. Don't complain. -Maya Angelou |

my mouth dropped open when golly sandra first started. the core of the song is the same but there are some new sounds in there. i couldn't believe it and i'm really liking it. it isn't at all what i expected but each time i listen to it i appreciate it more. it's turned into a really fun song with great energy and stacy's vocals are amazing. _________________ blog. check it. |

Especially "Golly Sandra." ditto! I have wasted a considerable amount of valuable time tonight listening to these songs over and over again, when i should be finishing my 15-page paper tonight so i can start another one so i can finish that one in time to finish my take-home final before i have to leave next friday. ugh!! Oh well at least there's eisley. The more i listen to these new songs the more i like. I'm just a little upset i didn't have the patience to wait for the LP to drop cause now these tracks will not be as refreshing as the others. guess i can't have everything in life. hehe _________________ "You're my favorite person." - David Carradine, Kill Bill vol. 2 |

One thing I will admit: the remix of "Lost at Sea" makes me really happy. Please tell me this will be a B-side. Yeah, that song made me really really happy. I love it. Every bit. The TE I am able to appreciate a lot more. I sometimes wonder if some people's views of this song have been tainted by opinions. I don't know. I thought all of them were fantastic. Absolutely. _________________ And it's so sad to see the world agree That they'd rather see their faces fill with flies All when I'd want to keep white roses in their eyes.

Is there anyone else here that refuses to listen to these songs? It's bad enough that I've already heard live versions of these songs, but now I've got access to the official songs? I just don't want to ruin it for myself. I want to buy the album when it comes out, and listen to it on the way home.. hearing the mastered songs for the very first time. I'll admit that I skimmed through Golly Sandra. It sounded really good from what I heard. _________________ "Aren't we all hanging from a fragile vine awaiting an inevitable plunge to doom while mice gnaw at our temporary safety? Mmm, I'm really liking the LAS remix. The vocals are absolutely gorgeous, but I'm going to have to listen to them more or wait until I hear the whole album before the live/album conversion shock wears off. Eh, that's what I get for putting the live version of Golly Sandra on repeat. It's like that feeling I get when grabbing too much cookie dough before the cookies are actually baked, but in a good, non-stomach ache Eisley sense. Anyway, grood job kids! _________________ Blaahg Mahspace Audioscrobbler

I think alot of this is possibly from expectations in our minds that have formed from hearing the live versions for so may months on end. I think a little of it is paranoia regarding the big WB machine and its intentions to make Eisley into a commerical TRL band, combined with the fact that there is a little less of that magical eisley element and more of a radio-friendly sound. however, the songs are still amazing, which is evident since i've listened to them at least 10 times each. and even the production style itself has grown on me. after all... THESE are THEY... these are the final versions of these songs. and i'm ok with that. Ultimately, there has to be some sense of loss once the final versions of the songs are heard, since one is no longer at liberty to imagine what the songs sound like. i would say that i prefer actually having heard them, which means that i am content with how they turned out. p.s. first time hearing golly sandra did anyone else think stacy was 6 years old? I have listened to the songs over and over. TE is my favorite. This version is good, I like it. But I dunno, all the tracks sound super polished and ready to be played during the next episode of a WB teen drama. This isnt the band I fell in love with. But its what is going to be released, so theres nothing that can be done... I remeber seeing a thread saying how Eisley and Midlake sounded indentical to the someone, I don't think that could be said after hearing these new tracks. I dont think anyone who heard these new songs could have any idea that Eisley are influenced by radiohead, pink floyd, or the beatles. It sounds like WB really want to push them towards the Avril and co crowd, which is sad. welll... yeah, i agree with you, but i wouldn't go so far as to say that this is a different band than the one we fell in love with. it will sure make trying to get some of my friends to like eisley harder, but in the end these are still the same songs that at least got me to liking eisley. finally, you must also consider that these three songs in particular don't really display the more eerie side of the band, which i'm sure will still come through on memories, i wasn't prepared, as well as some other new songs. _________________ "You're my favorite person." - David Carradine, Kill Bill vol. 2 |

oh my, how i love this band. all the hard work has definately paid off. The first one I listened to was the remix of Lost at Sea, and even though it was really surprising at how different it sounded, it was absolutely amazing. The live versions and the studio produced versions both have their own beauty, and I can't wait until the time when I'll actually be able to hear them live! _________________ just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you |

I think it's safe to say that there were compromises made, as there always is when money is the bottom line. The fact is, these Eisley kids write great music. Amazing songwriting and lyrics. And, by jove, if this is what they need to propel them to a level of popularity where they can fully call the shots, then I say go for it. Remember a little band called Radiohead and a little album called "Pablo Honey"? Back in 1993 if you would have played me that record and told me that they would have created a record like Kid A I would've laughed you out of the shower. They didn't come into their own until LP number 2 and now they're the most important band in rock. Luckily, Eisley already has the songwriting part down....they just need to take the reigns as producers (or let Midlake or Aaron Sprinkle or Jon Brion do it), and all shall be well. |

i love love love them. i have to say.. like most people here, t.e. threw me a little. but i've only listened to this version once so far. it took me about a month to get used to the laughing city version. so.. i think i will grow to love this one too. "it'll grow on you. it's a grower" (high fidelity reference). as for the other songs.. man o man. lost at sea made the hair on the back of my neck stand on end. that doesn't happen to often so i tend to take notice when it does. i luv it so. 'sgot beautiful vocals. and, i love that remix too. reminds me a little of mew for some reason. and of the postal service (and i sure do luv the postal service.. and naturally.. i sure do love mew. it's a win-win here). and.. golly sandra is beautiful. i got a lump in my throat guys, for real. that's all that has to be said. so i'm gonna sit on my hands now and wait for february..* *disclaimer: will not actually sit on hands and wait for february.. have rather important exams and some university applications to deal with in the meantime. but will, in spirit, be sitting on hands. thanks for caring. _________________ "dial" in Welsh means "revenge". The only new version that bugs me is Lost at Sea. It just..ehh.. I dunno. I'm just used to the old version. But other than that...and the chorus of TE sounding too fast...its all good. _________________ lj : da |

Wow, this is hard for me. Watching people like giant_, and ideal, that have obviously been around here a pretty good while, turn so quickly in a negative way towards this honest, hard working band is going to be difficult for me. It's ok. Everyone is going to have their thoughts, and I understand that. I think to say that you can no longer tell their influences of, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Radiohead, etc...will turn back around when you all hear the whole album. Tis true that the band lost some battles during the making of this album, but, they won many, and are very proud of the way it turned out. I hope all of you will like the full album too, even though I know that is not possible. Carry on........ |
