Whenever a record label says "change your name", it's time to say bye-bye to said record label. But maybe that's just me. Unless, Lucasfilms is sueing...of course. THEN FIGHT THEM FOR ALL IT'S WORTH BECAUSE IN STAR WARS IT'S "MOS EISLEY"!!! Notice the extra 'S' in the band's name. I think the name change is bogus (if it's true) and I'm not afraid to say it. xoxo Randyman _________________ "It is because they have no Oyarsa," said one of the pupils. perhaps you guys could pick the title of a favorite song of yours or something.. I know that radiohead was originally called on a friday, and after they got signed they changed their name to radiohead after a song by someone, though I can't remember who.. _________________ "strength is just an accident arising from the weakness of others." ~Joseph Conrad ---------------

It sounds like their current name, but also could mean something.. dunno what =D Actually, I agree with this. Somewhat keeps the name recognition plus the name kinda has that mysterious emo immagery to it. _________________ This space intentionally left blank. |

Let me think of some words that have meaning.... Hmmm.. timbre - the quality of sound genuflect - to bend the knee in reverance or worship nightshade - i dunno, sounds emo Poncho - represent Tejas eclipse - calm yet mysterious Its always a good idea to add adjectives to the beginning. Or you could be a "The" band.... TheMossEisley Or you can go with the formula---- The (random name) (experiment, theory, effect, ect.) Theres my ten cents, my two cents is free. Good luck with the name. |

The Talking Heads . . . was the band that Radiohead lifted their name from. Names taken from other bands is generally a bad idea. Names from anything pop-culture (bands, movies, . . .) are generally a bad idea. Literature however . . . ! _________________ The day it single with half is done. Today I questioned all never. Okay, everyone can start booing, and throwing tomatoes. I'm so glad I don't actually know you people! Y'all would be toilet papering my house! Anyways, that was my idea, and I HAD to insert my two cents. I really like that Moss Eyes idea! _________________ "save me from the nothing I've become" -Evanescence |

now follow me here, cause i could be wrong but.....we haven't heard anything from the band members themselves about what they think of everyone's "lovely" ideas have we? so they're in new york, possibly signing on with some big name company, becoming huge stars, meeting really cool people blah blah blah. it's time for the judging of the names.....pow powpow pow! that was...the lightning. ok, so seriously. the suggestions in here........are somewhat...um, how do you say, not doing it for me, you know? now granted, i have no suggestions either except for maybe "no moss"......haha, get it? no mas? baaaaahahahahhahah....yeah so anyway. keep up the good work folks..... |

First of all, I'm almost positive George Lucas has no clue about the band name. However since we live in such a stinkin' litigous (is that the right word?) society, I imagine almost any big label is not going to want to touch the name with a 10 foot pole, because the possibility is there that Lucas' lawyers - having nothing better to do - could sue over the intellectual property rights. It is bogus, but it's the truth. Most likely the "It's not even spelled the same; an extra s" wouldn't stand up. I don't know all the ins-and-outs, but oftentimes things have to be "changed" to the point where it actually becomes original intellectual property.. and that's probably not enough. They'd probably argue that the intent was still to use a SW reference. The point about the band Nerf Herder is good; hadn't thought about that. Again, it's just the possibility of lawsuits that makes the labels leary. I think it's bogus, and am not looking forward to the name change either. _________________ "The revolution starts today, not tomorrow." :: got g-Love? |
