hey. any GPS geeks out there? I need to equip our van or get a hand held unit - (but i think better for the van) so we don't get lost so often out there in the US of A. It's very important. I need the scoop. A great deal. It's so lame when you go to the trouble to get up at 5am so you can try to drive right out of Seattle's downtown, but mapquest is screwy and yahoo's first directive reads: start going toward ______ road (but you have no idea which direction or where ______ rd is!...or it says turn north on _______ highway (which hasn't been called that in 10 years by locals and signage doesn't support it)...so you drive around like a rat in a maze for half an hour when you could have been stopping at a Starbucks so you could wake up and get to the next venue by 4 after driving 11 hrs. We need to have a good tour. We need not to get lost. I can google this and research it, but i just know that SOMEBODY or many of you have some idea about which brand, or price points for various features....like, which features aren't needed but cost way more...etc. Or just a starting point. I thankyou and I Eisley will thank you more. luh. bowit. _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. I have looked into it briefly for myself. For a zire 72 palm piolt, it costs about $400 bucks, and I think that's just the barebones. But also watch out because you might have to have a cell phone for it too. _________________ http://www.compassion.com/Default |

I have heard good things about the Garmin StreetPilot III, but that'd set you back 600-700 bucks. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/whisperingtrees |

I don't know much about GPS systems on the market or their prices, really. If you're wanting something similar to OnStar, where it actually shows you a map of where you are and shows you where to turn and stuff - that's probably going to set you back quite a bit. I'm presuming that's the type you want, though, since otherwise it'd be one that basically just tells you your longitude and latitude, which doesn't really help with directions. The latter are cheaper, though. _________________ "The revolution starts today, not tomorrow." :: got g-Love? |
