Room Noises is listed on at least six exclusively Christian music websites that I've seen so far. Do Eisley consider themselves a Christian band? Because although they are self proclaimed Christians, they're not a 'Contemporary Christian' band really, are they? I thought they were secular. Other secular bands who are self proclaimed Christians, like for instance, 3 Doors Down, Hanson, and Creed, are not listed on these sites. But U2 is on there. Go figure! I was just wondering about that

The people in Eisley are Christians, but the band Eisley is not a Christian band. They're mostly on those sites becuase of their personal lives and because they came up partially in Christian music circles.

Well, as long as Eisley continues to be listed on at least 6 exclusively Christian music websites... the question will continue to come up.

But that begs to question...

Can you still call them "exclusively" Christian music websites if Eisley and U2 are listed? Hmmm.

As for U2, it's the same deal; the members (three fourths of them) are Christian, but the music is "not".

Yeah, it's the same situation as Lifehouse as well. They are Christians in a band and I've been preferring it that way lately because it gives musicians that are Christians so much more chance at getting their music to a broader audience.

This needs to be in the FAQ, prominently. But who reads the FAQ? Bah. So many answers, so little attention.

It depends on what you consider Christian. It boils down to the following 2 options:

1) If you think the fact that the members are Christians, regardless of what they sing about, makes them a Christian band - then they are a Christian band.

2) If you think that a Christian band only writes songs that are explicit statements of the Christian faith - then Eisley are not a Christian band.

I don't understand why people are so consistently annoyed by this question. Like I said... as long as Eisley is listed at these websites... the question is going to keep coming up. There's no sense in getting worked up about it though.

The irony is that every post of "now we only have to wait for the next person to ask this question" and "here we go again" only keeps the thread at the top.

Personally, it doesn't bother me. After a while you learn to ignore threads you don't care to read about. Heck, I think I only read about 5% of the posts in General!

It annoys me because the "Christian band" tag has crippled the careers of a lot of very good bands that never really should have been labeled as "Christian bands" to begin with. And I'm not faulting the person asking the question. But I think it should be made known that the term "Christian band" is a ludicrous marketing term. Not to mention, it shoves the members of Eisley under this enormous spy glass. "You say you are Christians, but someone heard you say '$#@!' backstage at SNL." blah blah The band should certainly not be ashamed of their Christianity. But let Eisley decide if they want to be labeled a Christian band, not the members of a message board.
