Hello i'm new here and I have some questions maybe some of you can help me with...

1. Has telescope eyes been released to any radio formats and if so how is it doing?

2. Has their album reached the billboard 200 yet?

3. This groups reminds me alot of Sixpence None The Richer... do they claim them to be an influence?

Has not been released to radio yet.

2. Has their album reached the billboard 200 yet?

It reached it the first week it was released. It was 189. I don't know about now.

3. This groups reminds me alot of Sixpence None The Richer... do they claim them to be an influence?

Not listed as an influence, and would not say that they were even though Sixpence was great.

Room Noises was in the Billboard 200 (#189?) about a week after it's release. I haven't heard any updates on that yet.

EDIT: Kim beat me to answering about "Telescope Eyes." Smile

I don't think the band have said that Sixpence is a major influence, but they've certainly been on the receiving end of that comparison a lot. Stacy and Sherri do sound a lot like Leigh Nash, and that's one of the first things people tend to notice. A lot of Eisley fans were Sixpense fans before. Smile

I just got a copy of Billboard. They are not on the 200 album chart this week. They are, however doing really well on the Heatseeker chart, whatever that is. And they may be on the download chart too. Stay in touch with Eisley at the Pulse Music Messageboard. That's the board for Radio and Records and the music business. I started a post about them long ago but we need more.

I'd be surprised if they don't own a couple of Sixpence Cd's... being from Texas, coming from a Christian background, and with the sound similarites... My guess is that they were advised not to mention Sixpence as an influence so that the comparision is not made more than it allready is.

But what do i know...

Actually.....

I'm there mom, and I can tell you we only have the first Sixpence cd.

It has nothing to do with anyone telling us not to mention them as an influence.

We actually like Sixpence, we just only have one of their cd's.

No anti Christian conspiracy involved. I can't say that they were an influence though.
Eisley has listed their influences many times, but I don't know where to find them on the board.
They were influenced by The Beatles, Pink Floyd, old musicals, Ella Fitzgerald, The Judd's, The Forester Sisters, Radiohead, Gino Vanelli, 100 Portraits, Lori Chaffer, (from Waterdeep), The Beach Boys, and many more that I just can't recall right now.

they are, as far as i know, not in any charts over here in the UK. well, the one on Radio 1, which is the only one based on sales (they do a download chart, too), all the local stations here are pants. adverts ever 20 mins plus they never actually chat with the listeners. it's all business like. Radio 1, however, is more chilled out... but anyways, i'm rambling now, i must go...

Eisley are fab. Good work, dudettes and dudes! Very Happy Very Happy (i just wish you'ld come to the UK once in a while.. Laughing )

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Eisley was already together and performing before Sixpence really made it big. Sixpence really breakthrough until "Kiss Me" was on the "She's All That" soundtrack in 1999.

That was when they broke into the secular market, they'd already been selling Christian records before that, though I'm not sure exactly how long before.

Right, I'd heard of them years before that on the Christian scene since that was the crowd I rolled with. But even then Eisley had pretty much already formed who they were.

Fun fact of the week: Leigh Nash sings backup on the song "If Tomorrow Was Forever" on the Normals debut album "Better Than This." That was kind of cool since the Normals are friends of mine from Normal, IL.

I stand corrected. I have to say that the "mom" answering messages on a board like this is pretty awesome! Although i have never met your children it sure seems like you all did something right! One influence that i'm certain your children left off the list is you! Way to go on raising your kids... they seem to be doing alright for themselves...

And i wasn't suspecting a "christian conspiracy" (although that would be an interesting conspiracy to be in on), only that they had probably were sixpence fans... I think sixpence also states some similar influences (Radiohead for example) which probably could acount for their similarities...

I think they meant the 'Room Noises' version of Telescope Eyes.
