I started one about 2 months ago and I think it's paying off even though I haven't beat anyone up... yet... The "martial art" i'm taking is actually not a martial art, but what the Israeli special forces use. It's called Haganah and focuses on throwing elbows and knees and dealing with knives and guns. I don't know what it is exactly that makes me satisfied with spending money on learning on to fight. It's not like i'm afraid that i'm going to be attacked by some random guy on the street, but at the same time i've felt more confident ever since joining.

I'd recommend taking a martial art to the guys on here.

I used to be a black belt in tae kwon do, it was a lot of fun but it got too time consuming...so I quit. my parents now own the school and them and my brothers teach there...but not me, I quit. It sucks cause my little brothers could beat the crap out of me

Mine doesn't have a level system, except for black belt. I don't plan on becoming one, though. I signed up for a year. It's only 2 times a week for an hour session, but sometimes there's these 4 hour seminars that you gotta put up a lot of cash for. I'm going to do one or two of those before I quit. The only thing I don't like about it is you still have to learn how to fight on the ground. I'm probably going to take brazilian jiu jitsu after this if I can find time.

Who knows, maybe i'll take up a career in cagefighting after this. Very Happy

There's more to martial arts than just fighting. One should train so they won't have to fight.

In regards to your question, I study Shaolin Gong Fu and Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan.

hapkido. it's related to tae kwon do. i have a red belt, i havent been to a class in ages but i still want to get my black belt.
if anything, it's made me avoid physical confrontation at all costs.
