Let's put this to rest once and for all. I was actually hired as the on-set "grass blade wrangler and artist" (the band was impressed by some of my earlier work as the "sand grain wrangler and artist" in Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" video and as the "water molecule wrangler and artist" in Britney Spears' "Everytime" video) so here's some first hand knowledge: The blades of grass were supposed to subliminally spell out the following quote from Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, p. 132 of "The Inferno": "Justice divine has weighed: the doom is clear. All hope renounce, ye lost, who enter here." However, at the beginning of the second take some of the blades of grass apparently fell of due to the sub-par "grass blade spirit gum" that we had on set, just leaving the "d", "i" and "e". The director was happy with the first take where the blades were all in place but, Sherri, diva that she is, insisted that the second take showed off more of her knees' personality. Musicians...they're never satisfied... |

I would just like to say this thread kept me completey entertained, and I originally thought the "grass" blades were cuts but I'm happy to find they are grass....which is much less painful.

I guess they will probably make a revised edition of the video where the we see the entire band sitting there and the grass spelling "do what we told you!" I am a bit concerned that you might be taking this seriously, so I'll tell the truth and let it be known that if it does say anything at all it is sheer coincidence.
