Depends on what you call pop music. I would definitely call it pop rock/indie rock. Its full of very accessable melodies and musical stylings. Just because it is "pop" doesn't mean it is bad. If you just listen to what you like no matter the label, it won't matter, =D Sure, Golly Sandra can be called bluegrass/country because of the steel guitar, but who cares because its an awesome song, =D _________________ EisleyForever wrote: you're A-list in my heart! At Hastings, we catagorize Eisley in our Pop/Rock section... but we put a lot of stuff there. "Pop" music isn't a disease. Don't be ashamed if Eisley is pop. Look up the definition of Pop. Lets see... Wikipedia says... Pop music is a subgenre of popular music. Pop music may be distinguished from classical or art music and from folk music [1] but since the term spans many rock, hip hop, rhythm and blues (R&B), country, dance and operatic pop acts, it is reasonable to say that "pop music" is a loosely defined category. The term is also used in a derogatory manner by some who feel that pop music lacks any musically artistic meaning, or in lack of better terminology, represent a betrayal of the traditional sound of either the act themselves or the specific genre to which the act belongs. I don't know. Why is this important anyways? Who cares what the genre is?? _________________ Jamie (the female version) |

If your friend defines pop with 50 cent and Britney Spears, then Eisley would not be in that same category. They do not set out to make a "hit" record on every track. The popular music taste has not yet caught up with Eisley, though maybe one day it will. |

They're not pop in the manufactured corporate machine way. Of course, most of the indie-alterna-pop music falls under the "rock" umbrella, and we know how diverse that gets (or I hope we do). They definitely have a strong bent on pop, but ... just it's one end of a spectrum. Classification just stifles and causes trouble. _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |

Alas, as with so many other things, words lose their meaning. Like what happened with "alternative," and what is happening to its more recent incarnation "indie." Down with genre. Exactly! Classification just leads to imitation and the death of freedom and originality. _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |

urban dictionary- alternative: A label for the label-less pop: Popular; mainstream indie: Short for independent rock or my favorite indie definition indie: an obscure form of rock which you only learn about from someone slightly more hip than yourself. _________________
