Okay, I get that you guys think it's weird/creepy to roleplay a celebrity. But, most of these people intend no harm to anyone.

Maybe they don't intend to hurt anyone,
But they probably still do.
It's not like celebrities are ficticious characters,
They are real people, with real identities...
In reality...
Not make believe...
Since when is copying someone else, expressing yourself?
Copying others is stealing.
Roleplaying isn't just creepy, it's fraud, it's theft.
Wanna have a cool online journal? Be a cool person.
Wanna have cool pictures? Take cool pictures.

I never said that copying someone else was expressing oneself, or anything like that, so I don't know why you're saying this to me. I don't like celebrity roleplay either (and have never participated in it), I'm just saying that most of these people aren't necesarily malicious, evil people or something like that..

I'm sorry
I didn't mean it all like that
I did disagree with what you said
But, I wasn't trying to put you down.
Reading back, wow, I was a bit harsh
and I apologize, it wasn't directed at you
although I can see now, that is how anyone would take it.
In reference to people that DO steal pictures and pretend to be celebrities
I would say the same thing.
It's creepy, and even if they don't mean harm
They're doing it.

you know who winds up being hurt by all of this? the fans. people who participate in such behavior make artists uncomfortable, and in so doing, help create a wall between the artist and their audience. i mean, seriously, if you've been inflicted by people doing this, it makes you WATCH WHAT YOU SAY to people you really don't know; it makes you uncomfortable around people, and it makes you rather untrusting. and while i'm not one who appreciates artists who distance themselves from 'common people,' i have to say it's quite easy to understand why a musician would want to build a wall around themselves. it's self-preservation.

i kind of feel bad for sherri and anyone who has to endure such things. there was once a fake eisley on livejournal, and it was really, really creepy. how creepy was it? well, let's just say you wouldn't have known it wasn't sherri! apparently whoever ran that journal read the forum and her xanga pretty closely...because there would be stuff on there, not just pictures, but also pseudo-personal stuff, based on what the real sherri had written. had i not been around sherri and the band and gotten to know them a little bit, i would have easily thought it was the real deal. this person was good--even going so far as to utilize the same grammar forms as sherri! i mentioned it to boyd, and i could tell that such a thing was a frustration for him, too--i mean, there really wasn't much he could do about it.

it's kind of sad, the nutcases that are out there. you never know if the person behind such things is simply a 13 year old kid (which is probably more likely the case) or a potential Mark David Chapman. if i were in the band's position, i'd definitely err on the side of caution...and that's sad, because it changes things, in a really profound way.

it happens to alot of famouse people.it's almost like there a part of our culture that wont let them have a right to a private life.and that was what i was thinking when i started thred.

I wouldn't blame any performer to put up a wall after having to endure such a thing. It's terrible, weird, and creepy. I even hate to look a paparazzi pictures in magazines. It just makes me feel sad for that person because they're just trying to live a normal life when they're not on camera or promoting their music. Our culture makes it too much of a necessity to know a "famous" person's life even though it isn't any of our business, and I really cannot believe that. It's sad that it's that way...

someone has probably already mentioned this but the thing about photo sharing aka stealing is that at some point some people were desperate to get christie photos? i mean, she's (most of) eisley's sister...not actually part of eisley, and therefore people should not be asking for her pictures on eisley-photo communities.
