I know nothing about how addictive drugs are, but my gues would be that it's actually impossible to quantify that this drug is more addictive than another. Surely it depends on the chemical makeup of the user combined with the chemical makeup of the drug?

I just... can't see how people can say that one drug is more addictive than another.

Well, some can. Meth and heroin are particularly notorious for addiction. I hear about people killing themselves more often with those, because they just can't escape the addiction.

That's kind of what I was trying to get at.

You aggregate data, just like for anything else, and come to a generalization that is true for most people. Often this fits a nice bell curve. This is why on the side of prescription bottles, it says "May cause the following side-effects..." Medicine and science are much more about statistics and probabilities than facts or truths.

I disagree with drugs. Harming yourself like that is just stupid. Just having a few brief moment of enjoyment and then having a long term suffering because of drugs. That just mess up. I wouldn't do it

If drugs have no side effect, I know I would do it all the time.

I know some Meth addicts, it's really not pretty nor attractive. They have that certain stentch to their sweat, pretty gross imho.

Uh... marijuana really doesn't have long term side effects physically.

Well, not right away
Over time, with regular use, it does
It decreases your energy
And it does seriously damage your brain

But, so does binge drinking.

The problem with marijuana,
is that nobody uses it in moderation.
So chances are if you be smokin' da weed,
You be smokin' a lot of weed.
You be destroying brain cells
leading to memory loss...and difficulty in learning

That's just a generalization
Drugs effect everyone differently

You're not going to win someone over with your argument by calling them stupid.

Just a tip.

Haha, I have no idea what you are trying to say...
Are you trying to say that you can get HIV from smoking marijuana?

It is true that there's a chance to get lung cancer from smoking weed... but you'd pretty much have to smoke every single day. I know that some "potheads" do indeed smoke everyday, but I would say that the vast majority of people that have tried weed do not do it everyday.

what you are all saying about marijuana is true; it is not physically addictive. but it is dangerous because it is known to be a "gateway drug". once the pot isn't strong enough, a drug user may move on to potentially more harmful drugs such as cocaine or heroin.

some of my friends at school do it so they can "escape" from stress and what-not. and i think thats a problem, beacuse they are just using it to get away from real life.

i dunno. i just usually dont agree with it, but i'm not going to judge someone that does it, its their choice. their life.. so... not my problem.

I wrote a pretty long thread here once about my use of marijuana and the context in which I was smoking as well as the mentality that revolved around it.

*digs......digs*

here it is:
http://www.eisley.com/laughingcity/viewtopic.php?p=418192&highlight=#4 18192

I think that marijuana is a gateway drug, and that those who smoke to escape reality (like I did) will never be satisfied and move onto bigger and scarier drugs (like I thought about doing.....multiple times.) But I know a few people who get together in good spirits, smoke some weed, and just relax and have a good time in the comfort of their homes. It happens rarely, and is such as miniscule part of their life, that I don't really see the harm. I have no right to judge though. So I just won't do it. All I can offer is my own experience.
