8 threads about this one topic isn't any worse than all the threads about some unfunny video somebody found on YouTube... or what somebody found in their pocket today... or some random lines from a song... or any of the other meaningless, mind-numbing crap that comes up every day. The big difference is that this IS significant. So I can cut some slack over a bunch of threads over a significant topic than a bunch of threads over a lot of insignificant stuff. _________________ "If you're a ninja, every day is like friday." -Jamie M. |

So you only congratulate people who got married if they're family or very close friends of yours? If so... that's cool. I was just wondering. _________________ "If you're a ninja, every day is like friday." -Jamie M. |

Congratulations and significance to me are two different things. It's totally fine to give your best wishes to Sherri and Chad. Congratulating someone you don't know personally is one thing and, thinking it's significant to your life is another. Do you get what I'm saying? |

I'm making a band just so I can have 8 threads of congratulating on my band's forum when I get married. _________________ EvilSpace |

Because all the very active ones were in a wedding (Luke, Kim) or doing things around Dallas all day (myself). Also, I could only find one thread I truly consider to be duplicate upon a scrutinizing review. In hindsight, myself or another mod should have made a sticky to try to collect at least the congratulations somewhere ... but we'd still have stray threads. rmlawrence wrote: 8 threads about this one topic isn't any worse than all the threads about some unfunny video somebody found on YouTube... or what somebody found in their pocket today... or some random lines from a song... or any of the other meaningless, mind-numbing crap that comes up every day.

Well, I've noticed how this forum has threads on many things that are random and stuff. And like it was said before, the engagement/marriage thing is significant. As for other things, maybe a "Random Thread" should be started so that random things could be thrown in there instead of having a thread posted for everything. I'm just saying. It works on other messageboards I go on. |

oh my lord in heaven. i swear some people can just be so dissagreeable simply for the purpose of being brats. sorry. but thats the tone i get when i read the constant bashing of what EVERYONE has to say. bratty. it makes some people never want to bother posting because they just get attacked by a select few. and the select few are ALWAYS the same. the wedding was significant. the family. to friends. to fans. people ENJOY sharing JOY with people. despite whether they are bros or bffs. and thats the truth. so someone started another thread.. this is a public forum. where people can do whatever they want. and if you saw a post about sherri and chads wedding. it probably would've been more wise, since you HATE everything, to just not open it and read it. this could've been a very happy little additional thread... who cares if it was the 800th one! it was started by an innocent person wanting to acknowledge chad n sherri. and i am down with that. grumpwads. loveliz |

I'm bashing the fact that they're incapable of consolidating threads, and whatever you think about my motives, eight threads is seven too many. I'm totally okay with people wanting to wish them the best; I wish them the best too. I'm even okay with people thinking this wedding is somehow important to people outside the DuPree family and immediate friends. Not my problem. But we need ONE thread for this, since the subject of all eight has been exactly the same. I do not hate everything and I did not say what I've said in this thread for the purpose of being disagreeable. I also do not appreciate those accusations. If I make people want to stop posting with what I say, I apologize. But there's no excuse for this. It's proper forum etiquette that when posting a new thread, former lurker or not, you check to see if it's already been posted. Especially if the last seven times it was posted are still on the front page. I'm not bashing the message, I'm bashing the method. _________________ INTELLECT AND ROMANCE OVER BRUTE FORCE AND CYNICISM Smokemonster |
