larriveejp wrote: I would also like to try to clear up some issues mentioned in this thread: DMB = Manufactured/Mainstream Pop? I do understand that some people simply don't care for the music. That's fine. However, to lump them in with any generic band you will hear every hour on the hour at any rock station in the country is a bit lazy and close-minded. i really dont lump them in with anything. like you said, theyre just not my cup of tea. my mother lives in va, and i went to school at a college prep school where everyone was a DMB fans since they were the children of yuppies... weed smoking neo-hippie frat boys... and that IS the majourity of their fan base. that and aging hippie soccer moms. but yeah i just dont like them and i dont think the crowd would "get" eisleys music... Quote: Ticket prices too high
High ticket prices are not exclusive to DMB. Thank ClearChannel and others for this nonsense. no, but they would be way way way WAY more dear than the tickets cost for the gigs i usually go to. and besides that, my concern is also that while i would want to see eilsey i probably wouldnt stay around for DMB and that's just way too much for me to pay to see one band. Quote: Fans too drunk or high/Frat Boys/etc.
Again, this scene is not exclusive to DMB. How few shows do you see that you only notice these problems at a DMB show? Even at high-end venues such as NextStage in TX (where Eisley opened for Coldplay on the Dallas stop), there were plenty of people who fit into each of the above categories. i just dont go to large, mainstream gigs so yeah i usually dont get that stuff. ive been to maybe two gigs where there have been inebriated frat boys and yeah, i actually have gone to tons of gigs in my life, thanks. but yeah, the smaller gigs i go to usually dont have that sort of environment. i went to school with boys like that and it makes me really uncomfortable to be around those people, they carry the potential to make your concert going experience completely miserable. Quote: I think it would be great exposure for Eisley and wish you all the best regardless of what happens. i think so too. i would just be really dissappointed because when they toured i wouldnt get to go see them....[/quote] _________________ lovesick on a sunny afternoon leave those bees alone! |

you have to think management/label...exposure. so far, it's been pretty broad appeal. would DMB be the first tour who's fans couldn't go there? i doubt it, but.... no worries. I really doubt this tour will happen. It's just a hunch. no info yet. So many other cool bands to consider. Ryan Adams for one...how about Rufus? Good connections... it's a small industry. bd _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. Ryan Adams would be pretty cool. He put on a good show, if a little short, at the Granada Theater last year. I didn't see any sign of his famously erratic behavior during that show. Only hint of this was when he made fun of SMU students driving Humvees or something like that. Just don't call him Bryan. I might have thought Ryan Adams an odd choice were it not for the recent Adventure Club show with the Old 97s. I really enjoyed that show. JP |
