I'm so proud of the band! Despite the few mixing issues, I thought they had a great performance. My girlfriend and I were so nervous for them. It turned out great, and hopefully this will open up other opportunities for them. Conan seemed really impressed after their performance. Great job guys!

So what sort of reactions have people seen so far? The video was posted on a livejournal community that gets a hundred thousand hits a day and there's been some pretty good feedback despite the obvious (and expected, considering the location) snarky jabs at the band to which fans flocked to defend. Some of the more positive responses:

"I like it."
"theyre amazing and tinkly "
"i really like it."
"i liked it! lame sound though"
"after watching them for the first time last night i have decided that i like them."

I watched it twice. At first I was like ohgod, but then I decided it was pretty good for a first T.V. performance. They looked spectacular, definitely 100% on the stage presence. Poor Stacy looked like she was just trying not to puke. Laughing GOOD JOB! It reminded me of sophomore speech class where I was standing in front of everyone trying to read my notecards and not vomit/cry. Embarassed

Thumbs up!

Jon Schneck (relient k) mentioned them in his blog today
"I am still amazed that LOST has held my attention for so long... I put a few episodes on my ipod last night and started watching them immediately after Eisley finished on Conan (they sounded really good ps)."

I'm in agreement with most on the band - not bad for a first time on tv. Nervous a little (who wouldn't be), and so-so sound by the engineer, not the band. Onward & upward...

Conan on the otherhand...ugh...
Funniest thing during the show was him knocking over his mic by accident. Even the crowd wasn't laughing at the lame jokes & bits. Give me Letterman any day...

At first I was shocked by the initial sound, because I know that Eisley sounds better than that. ANYBODY would have to sound better than that. And yeah, I sensed a bit of a strain on the band. At one point I thought Stacy looked near tears. But by the end of the song, I was like, 'hey, cool.'

Maybe it wasn't the mix...maybe it was the choice of the song? I mean, I like the new album, but "Invasion" just seems to be such a different sound from what they've done in the past, being more "rock" (ugh). I know it's the politics of being a band that requires a play of the 'single,' but I'm still (personally) not convinced of that song.

Still, it's a proud moment. And a learning experience. Though I thought the guest before the band was just tacky and tasteless.

I thought they sounded good; the drums and bass guitar were nice and oomphy. The keyboard was perfect; the guitars could've been a bit brighter, tho.
The voices seemed a little shaky from nerves, I guess, but shaky or not, still quite glorious!
Other than the near invisibility of Chauntelle, I thought the camera angles were very good. I'll bet there were more than a few rehearsals to get all of those down.

Anyway, I enjoyed seeing the band on National tv, yay!

Well I wasn't expecting to not be around for the airing of the show, so I've been beaten to the punch on getting the video out there, but here's some HD stills for your enjoyment:

I was so exicted to see Eisley on TV!
i just wish those TV sound mixing guys would pay a little more attention to what they're doing. I see a lot of bands on TV who sound bad....you'd hope the sound guys would get the hint. Perhaps nobody ever tells them that they do a poor job mixing?

You guys are so hard on the sound engineers! I think they did an awesome job. Sure, it could have been better, but I imagine there are different mixing requirements for television than for a live show in a club. Sure, I wish they could have watched tons of live Eisley videos to figure out exactly how Eisley sounds best, but they also mix a different band/musician every day (and they don't have a full set to work with...). I thought Weston's drums sounded really full, especially during the bridge.

Also, I imagine if they were doing a poor job, somebody would tell them or they would be fired. It's national television.

(This is all just opinion/speculation, I'm not a sound engineer)
