Dat
Golly, Poster

Listening to the new album I remember why I get Radiohead.

I was fortunate enough to see Radiohead on their previous tour and I got to hear some of these songs then. When I heard them then I honestly thought the songs were just meh. Listening to them again in their recorded form, I really enjoy them. I realized the difference was that now I can listen to the songs in their fully realized vision, honed and crafted, as opposed to the raw, incomplete one I got live, muddled with the lights and crowd noise.

And this reminded me how I felt when I first listened to The Bends and OK Computer way back when. I remember how much I enjoyed all the detail and imagery, and how it just got better the more I listened. The songs don't try to be blatantly catchy or brash and in your face like some other music to forcefully grab your attention; instead Radiohead goes the other direction, letting you forget about everything else in the world, leaving you no choice but to listen and enjoy.
