Hey y'all.
I ordered combinations from newburycomics for $8.95, and it arrived today, except it was the special edition one with the bonus dvd instead! Bargain!

However, I'm in in the UK and before opening it I wanted to check if it'll work in a region 2 dvd player??

Look at your dvd player manual or whatever. My family dvd player had a code on the internet and we only had to put it in once for it to work forever. Although, I prefer my cheap Asda DVD player as straight from the box it could play my Gilmore Girls boxsets from America...fancy doesn't always mean best.

American DVDs do tend to work out....if you got the code.

What a helpful and thoroughly considered answer!

That DVD is as close as we're going to get right now to an Eisley concert DVD, so that redeems it for me. And nothing beats having a recording of Brighten and Simon Dawes onstage during "Trolley Wood".

thanks! i do try!

but, really, it's crap. it was clearly thrown together, the picture and sound quality is pathetic (heck, at that bit-rate they probably could have fit it on the whole half of the CD Eisley didn't bother filling up with music!), and there really just isn't much there that you couldn't find, or find something similar enough, in better quality, on YouTube!

Clearly I have no choice but to defer to your expert opinion. I shall now break my Combinations DVD in half, run it over with my car, and never even think about the content of it again.

is it really bad? I was considering ordering it online since a lot of the videos on youtube aren't very good quality.

The Troubadour footage itself is not good concert footage (flat sound, static cameras), but I consider it worth it to have a TV-quality version. And like I mentioned, "Trolley Wood" alone is worth the price of admission.

I tried it out and it worked, but yeah, the quality isn't that good, but not like totally bad either, though. They coulda put all the music videos on instead of just Memories, ah well- glad i got it for the price of the regular combinations CD!

well, i was being a bit silly before, and no, it's not as bad as i made it seem, really, but, honestly, it's not good enough to really worry about one way or the other! i don't really think it gives you anything worth having, and, having seen it, i honestly kind of wish i had just gotten the standard version…

edit: TV quality? that's a stretch…
