I have a 5g 30GB Black Video iPod, with the quote "Without music, life would be a mistake" on the back. There's my answer chief.

My answer is biased simply because I've never used a Zune.. but I know people who have them, and they love 'em. Based on its size, I know I prefer my iPod video over a Zune though.

The iPod gives consumers a better aesthetic, greater compatibility (Zune incompatible with OSX), more options (shuffle, nano, classic, touch), and a stronger brand for roughly the same price.
No contest.

I don't care what improvements they've made to the Zune; it still looks like an ugly turd, while iPods have always been the sexiest of media players. *strokes 5G 80-gig lovingly*

i think they've gone backwards as far as design goes with the newest line. i just hate the metallic sheen of the new gens :/ I liked the flat smooth plastic 5G

I'm on my second iPod, and I have had nothing but good experiences with them, so I'll stick with Apple.

So when it comes down to it the Zune attention is just media hype.

I just have carried them around with me. I don't throw them or wash them or drop them... nothing of that sort. They were all 20gig photos, though. I'm convinced it's a crappy line (and 2/3 were refurbs).

i think you have your answer then - refurbs.

i mean...the word 'refurb' has most of the word 'furby' in.
you wouldn't buy a secondhand furby now, would you?

I had a Laptop die on me and i forgot some of the music had trouble moving over.
the had drive died and i lost the music.
the Zune Market place will let you re-download what you lost.
iTunes will never give it back to you.you have to rebuy it.

Yeah that must be it. I had an old iPod mini (I think it was a 1st gen mini) that lasted 2 years (well, it was still working when I upgraded, but I gave it to my sister and she broke it like a week later), and now I have a 30 GB video that has lasted a year and a half and still looks and runs great.

Always buy new.

That's a big plus.

I think I'm getting an old clearanced (black) Zune for Christmas.
