deloused is great, yet you can't listen to it all day because it's not music you can relax or dream to.. At least, that's what I think.
I don't like frances the mute though, I only like The Widow on that album

and, I agree with the person that said the vocals of C&C are more 'hateable', and I'm one of the people that dislikes C&C for that simple reason

I like a lot of their music. I find it difficult to listen to an entire album when I hit a 5 minute pocket of white noise or similiarly strange conceptual music.

I love the Mars Volta. I was really upset when they opened for the Red Hot Chili Peppers a while ago because I HATE them, and I didn't want to spend that much money to see an opening band Sad

Deloused is an amazing album.
The rest of their stuff I never could get into.
At the Drive In was amazing.

Yeah, neither split-off has touched At the Drive In. But I couldn't get into Deloused, either. It's all sounds like wanking to me now. It worked when it was counterbalanced ...

So since this thread I think I've seen this band two more times. Goliath has been in my CD player nonstop since I purchased it, I am so obsessed. I freaking love every song.

Booo! Like stated preciously,
Nothing new will ever beat Deloused or old At the Drive In stuff.

His voice on this album is just to annoying.

Coming from such a huge Volta fan this might be a surprise... but I don't like ATDI. TMV are so much more innovative and interesting, they are always trying new things with each new CD and wanting to reinvent themselves.

This new CD is a total positive step for them. I love Deloused, don't get me wrong- I'm always popping it back in my CD player. But I don't want another Deloused, I want something new and this CD is new.

Just out of curiosity, how many times have you listened to it?

De-loused was great, but I haven't heard anything but small glimpses after that album so far. although I'm optimistic everytime they do put out a new album.

I do enjoy sparta however more and more with every new album they release.

I like to call them a Mexican Pink Floyd, especially for Frances the Mute.

The stories behind their albums are always really neat too, whether they're true or not no one really knows, but they're crazy and really can add to the albums if you're into over-analyzing.

My favorite TMV album is still Amputecture, though The Bedlam In Goliath is a very, very close second. Tetragrammaton is, imho, their best song ever.

I've seen them three times, including a stadium tour with the Chilli Peppers that cost 60 dollars. I'd say it's WORTH IT.
