the girls were definitely the best part of it. i only wish it was longer.

I dunno, I think the part where you actually see John Robert break Will's hand with a rock was the best part. Wink

It looked like he didn't even hit the other guy's hand at first, but it was a mid-air collision not smashing it to the floor like I thought. Will kept on going through the scene like a trooper though.

Funny the footage with poor Sherri in the pool wasn't even used hah.

It was near the end right after Stacy shoots the singer. Just a short clip though.

Ah yes, you are correct sir.

I feel bad that she had to get in that cold pool for a two-second shot where you couldn't even tell it was her!

that's what i was thinking.
this band seems very influenced by The Shins.
i've been getting a few e-mails from Polyvinyl about this record.

It's definitely not the best one on the album.

When I first heard the Shins, I thought they were influenced by SSLYBY. They've been making that kind of music since way before the Shins were popular. Although SSLYBY did cover "New Slang" at an acoustic show once, and it was marvelous.

favorite parts:

when the guy first disses sherri for the first time and they cut to her annoyed face.

when the bottlehead is running bleeding and they shoot to christie laughing.

i have to say that they should've probably included the whole bodies when the girls were doing mean things to them.. it was sorta confusing seeing a dude with a random bottle coming at him. or flowers coming out of the air hitting a face. even though i got it.. my brain wanted the whole action.

the song is cute.

I really like where Stacy shoots the arrow. I'm not completely sure why, but it was well done.

christie's laugh was the perfect "haha you're a stupid boy, this is revenge" laugh.

these guys looked pretty young to me, so it seemed likely. the Shins were around several years before Garden State.

i think i first heard The Shins like 6 or 7 years ago, and first heard of Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin a few years later, so i'm pretty sure The Shins came first, but i'm not entirely sure it matters. The Shins have always underwhelmed me a bit, for the same reason that this song does: they're just too… laid-back?

I could see you cutting someone with a broken bottle but not throwing one.

yeah, i'm, thinking that neither was influenced by the other, but rather influenced by the same bands. the shins have been around since 97 and have had pretty much the same sound since then.

Interesting video. Wasn't impressed with the song itself; no memorable hook, nothing that would even sound like much of a melody if you sang it by itself.

actually i looked ot up on wiki out of curiosity.
Oh, Inverted World came out in 2001.
this band didn't start writing music until 2002.
so my statement is still probable.
combined with the fact that they covered New Slang makes it almost certain.
