Good question ... I haven't either.

Oh, and by the way, saying Eisley is unsuitable for prom does not equal saying they suck, so please stop drawing ridiculous conclusions and picking fights with people who haven't done anything wrong. Cheers!

I wasn't drawing that conclusion...so talk about drawing conclusions!

Who are you trying to fool? Carrie made a simple statement and you twisted it into something negative. That seems to happen a lot lately, and I'm tired of it. It's a trollish and immature thing to do (and before you jump to yet another conclusion, calling you out on it is not trollish or immature). So stop. Thanks.

Actually, you're twisting my words more than I was "twisting" anyone's. I wasn't making what Carrie said into a "she must hate Eisley thing" at all. More like a "that wouldn't be so bad" thing. I NEVER thought or tried to make it seem like Carrie hated them. Since I don't think she does. You on the other hand.....
And I'll do what I want thank you.

You'll "do what you want" within forum rules, please. Smile

And this entire discussion can end in PM.

It's more like top 20 now... The last time I listened to mainstream station they had a one-hour playlist that included "Bubbly," "Beautiful Girls," and that stupid "if someone said three years from now" song. Give me an iPod on random any day.

The state of popular music and this thread as a whole make me really glad I never had a prom.

I always thought that the song with 'Congratulation 'cause we made it' (Lost at Sea?) could become a standard for proms and graduations. A good shoulder-hugging and swaying weepy song.

Here that "Make Love In This Club" song is popular, and "Low" ("Apple Bottom jeans, Boots with the fur..."), some Miley Cyrus song, and whole lot of stuff that makes me want to puke.

I agree with those who said that by-and-large eisley music isn't that danceable. Some songs are sort of fun, jig-around-the-living-room type of songs. Especially if yo love eisley and have heard the songs a million times. but they have nothing really suitable for a prom environment.

I think the people who said that familiarity is the most important thing are right. People don't go to Prom's to be introduced to new obscure artists. They go to dance around to familiar songs, that they can sing along to and recognize in a second.

I Wasn't Prepared is an awesome slow song.

And Golly Sandra and A Sight to Behold for something more upbeat.

Here's the thing.
A lot of people go through that phase where they start acknowledging the difference between "good music" and "bad music."

Usually, that phase is accompanied by the outright rejection and ridicule of the aforementioned "bad music." Oftentimes, this includes total disgust at the mention or hearing of the "bad music."

Thankfully, most of us (unfortunately not all), grow out of this phase and can appreciation the "bad music" for what it is... often catchy, fun, nonsensical music you can bop your head along to.

"Low," "Irreplaceable," "Ridin' Dirty," "Soulja Boy," etc. are all incredibly enjoyable and catchy songs if you just wanna have some fun and dance along. Sure, there isn't great lyricism, instrumentation, or anything like that, but it's fun if you're not an elitist party-pooper.

So uh...my CD wouldn't even play on the DJs CD player, so the songs didn't even get played at all lol

Humorously enough though, they did play Cotton-Eyed Joe XD

Ha, it wouldn't be a public dance if they didn't. I think my soul is going to suffer permanent damage if I hear it again.

Dang CD ...
