Well, it's good and bad. Good because there are some terrible racist people out there who would not hire "minorities" otherwise. Then again, it is bad because a) it may prevent the most qualified individual from getting the job, b) it does send out a message of inferiority, as mentioned above.

And as Ambient-Gecko said, it doesn't help people who come as foreigners from other lands. It is something purely based on the color of one's skin for the most part, and that is sad. I know there are people who will discriminate against a certain nationality or won't hire somebody because of it.

If only racists would disappear a lot of the problems in the world would be solved. Affirmative action isn't the answer, yes it helps when it comes to some cases but it's more negative in my opinion. I don't know very many people who favor it no matter what color their skin happens to be.

Code:
Calculate duration between two dates – results
Duration calculation results

From and including: Wednesday, April 28, 2004
To and including: Wednesday, May 21, 2008

It is 1485 days from the start date to the end date, end date included

Or 4 years, 24 days including the end date
Alternative time units
1485 days can be converted to one of these units:

    * 128,304,000 seconds
    * 2,138,400 minutes
    * 35,640 hours
    * 212 weeks (rounded down)

(sorry, had to try out the date calculator lol)

Not sure I get your point. Is this a play on Hillary's "if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen" commercial?

No it's a reference to a phrase that was used about Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson during his wrestling career.
"Do you smell what The Rock is cookin?!"

Laughing Sorry to have missed that. Of course I've never willingly sat through one a wrestling match (I think my uncle had one on once 30 years ago, and I think a college roommate had one on once 18 years ago). But I have heard of The Rock. He was in a couple movies.

Old thread, but it applies this year. Perhaps it'll die away, and come back in another four years.

Anyway, I will answer. I'm a registered democrat, but over time, I've realized that I hold a lot of the same views republicans do. This time around though, I'm voting for McCain. I feel he has the most experience and the most thought out plans to execute. Well... yeah. That's that.

the wwe did a "democratic primary" wrestling match a while back, and they used the rocks theme music for barack obama, as shown here:http://youtube.com/watch?v=9kLbRgTbAes

I voted for the Conservative party last federal election but I am not so impressed with PM Harper. He's too heavy handed with his cabinet which is contrary to the parliamentary tradition. But I am not too impressed with the leader of the Liberal Party either who seems like a decent person but maybe not tough enough to be leader. Oh wait, wrong country.
