I uploaded these just for you. aww, thanks! now i remember why i wanted the model i got - the tremelo feature and bass/treble faders. it's really fun to turn on that tremelo, hold down on the sustain and keep layering sound upon sound. one thing i've wondered - since i've never played what i knew was a top condition Rhodes - is how good the action is on my keys. do you have to press down harder on the keys than what it seems with the average upright piano (not that i'm an expert on key action by any means)? _________________ I am Torgo. I can't play Chopin on the Rhodes, if you know what I mean. My friend Ross tried, it didn't happen. _________________ You can't find love; you have to create it. Flickr |

DucttapedVest wrote: If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for it? I paid $500 for the piano. I'm gnna be spending about $100 on the new tolex material and the harp cover. I also plan on buying all new hardware for it (corners, hinges, latches) as the ones that are on it now are all rusty and corroded. The Rhodes hardware pack from www.speakeasyvintagemusic.com will cost me about $140, plus I also need to get a new large Rhodes Logo, that goes on the back of the piano because that was missing. I'm gonna be putting quite a lot of money into this thing, but I think its soo oo worth it. _________________ |

Rhodes are neat to me because of their eerie, soft sound. And the very classy look. I would definitely choose a piano or keyboard to learn on, though. _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |

definitely a piano. an acoustic piano or keyboard is more versatile. Rhodes is for a specific sound, more an auxiliary keyboard i would say. and most keyboards have sounds that are similar to Rhodes. if at some point you want the real deal, then get a Rhodes. _________________ I am Torgo. it also depends greatly on the type of music you want to learn. if you just want to learn basic thing, like chords and stuff for a more classic style of music, then yes an acoustic or digital piano would be the best choice. However, if you want to learn more, funky, jazzy, or rock-ish music, a Rhodes wouldn't be bad to learn on. Oh, and just an update guys, the harp cover is almost done and is looking AWSOME! it should be done sometime tomorrow. I'll be sure to post pics. I found a great alternative to painting it. At the fabric store I found a really stretchy rubbery vinyl and guess what color it is? SPARKLEY RED!!! it adheared very well to the plastic harp cover, I got a better result than I expected. it looks like its painted! _________________ |

here's a little sneak peek at the harp cover. Right now I only have the sides done, I'll be fitting on the big cover piece on the top part of it tomorrw and then it'll be finished, the harp cover anyways. =]
