Thanks to the Combinations tour I found myself listening to Vedera. Right after the Austin show at Antoine's, my friend and I bought the Vedera sampler and listened to it on the way back to the dorms. Thanks for choosing such awesome bands to tour with you guys. ^^ |

juan_diego wrote: Vedera (or is it Veda?, ugh whats the deal with that?!?!?!) Their name used to be Veda but they changed because another band had the same or a similar name or something. Eisley has introduced me to Kashmir, SSLYBY and Midlake, and through this board to Luke and his Envy Corps. I've been really fortunate, however, in the sense that Eisley's never been on a tour where they're the only band I like. _________________ |

Oh yeah, Vedera. I like Simon Dawes, too, even though I don't listen to them much. The Final Noises and Summer Scenic tours had really good lineups. I am really sad I missed The Elected with Eisley back in 2005. I thought the Myriad were good, even if I might not be rushing to get their album (though I will probably eventually do so). The bands they open for can be hit or miss, but they do get some good, solid openers. There still hasn't been one as good as Pilotdrift yet, though. Oh yeah, and Quiet Company, even though I knew this and that about them before. As far as bands I've discovered from this forum, people on this forum or bands that I've finally decided to listen to because of Eisley or this forum: Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, Arcade Fire (I actually disliked the few listens I tried before I heard so much from Sherri and saw them on Conan and they finally started sinking in), Beirut, The Books, The Concretes, Danielson, Sufjan Stevens (before he was megahuge), Muse, Death Cab (motivated to get Transatlantacism), DeVotchKa, Feist, Iron & Wine, M83, Metric, Of Montreal, Rufus Wainwright, Tegan & Sara, Waterdeep ... To make a point, I listened to a ton of music before I discovered Eisley, but it has tripled since. That's probably understating it. The band and their fan's combined taste in music is massive and impressive. _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |

Not yet, but I remember hearing "Ruby Over Diamonds" by Kashmir playing before their set a couple of years ago and being dumbfounded by how many people were singing along. I thought Kashmir had suddenly blown up in the US or something! Then I found out about the video. |

The Fog Breathers, they rock my world. Seriously, most of the bands that are in soundtrack of my day recently are directly and in-directly originated from posts on this board, be that by Eisley themselves or fans posting stuff. Iron & Wine being the most inspiring of the lot. Sam Beam is s musical genius. _________________ "A mathematician is a blind man in a dark room looking for a black cat which isn't there." - Charles Darwin (legend) |

everyone's forgot Richard Swift?!? i think i did give some bands more of a chance after either Sherri or Stacy had them on their xangas. here's some i think were prob influenced by that (and probably already in my mind from pitchfork/music mags): Ryan Adams (specifically when Love is Hell came out) The Decemberists (pre Picaresque) Midlake/Ester Drang/Pilotdrift (bands around here that played with them) Arcade Fire Iron & Wine may or may not have referred me to Rilo Kiley and then The Elected MGMT (and the fact that the cd was on sale for $7.99) Coconut Records Trailvan Hyde i think i've tried to check out the Mew/Kent/Kashmir groups but either they didn't gel for me, or the albums were ridiculously foreign import priced. _________________ I am Torgo.
