Miss Pine's posts about her betta reminded me how much I've missed having one since Blue died a couple years ago. Tonight after depositing my paycheck, I picked up this little beauty.

I'm torn on name options, but whatever I pick will be super nerdy. Cast your vote in the poll above to help me decide!

I voted for Boyd, cause it seems like a good name for a fish. Then I thought about how fish don't do so hot in the lifespan department, so... I sort of want to retract that vote. I like the name Boyd for a fish though, so long as it's, you know, a boy.

Bettas can live up to four years, actually. They're usually a year old by the time their fins are fully developed and they're put up for sale. I'd had Blue for a couple of years when he finally kicked the betta bucket.

Vote (and retraction) noted. Smile

BTW my first dog was named Apollo - after one of the Doberman on Magnum P. I. and sort of after Carl Weathers in Rocky I think. Mom's choice, not mine. He was INCREDIBLE. I will someday blog about his irrefutable greatness and post a link. Until that fish can unlock a door, know whether to fetch a flathead instead of a phillip's head screw driver, and kills your neighbor's husky when it chases you and your friends onto your sister's car's hood, it will solely be named for a character that changed genders between productions like the lin minmei (sp? obviously) impersonater in the third iteration of Robotech.

Apollo really suits him, based on his fiery colour. Moist sounds kinda dirty to me.

I'm glad my post inspired you to bring a new betta home!
