I love room noises and the laughing city E.P. Those two releases have such amazing harmonies and I love the whimsical lyrics and imagery. This band is soo good!!

Well, there is heavier as in old eisley/mosseisley heavier-
it doesn't get much heavier than, say, over the mountains, for instance;

and there is the sort of pastiche school of rock, flyleaf sound-alike heavier.... There not the same thing....

But here's the catch on the eras;;;;
While I like the EP stuff the best, followed by a lot of the room noises stuff, and the combinations material does least for me so far, the renditions of some of the older stuff they broke out during the "combinations era" are truly unsurpassed. The combinations tour was so great less because of all the- I'll say it-- yawners -- from combinations; it was the blackened crowns, lady of the wood, memories, etc. they had worked over that made the show truly arresting.

So are we talking era's or actual albums? Because some of the music they made during the "combinations Era" was some of their best ever (and lets not forget- the Like the Actors EP was during the Combinations era- and was outstanding)- it just, for the most part, wasn't the stuff on combinations!

what if two of the older weaker songs on Room Noises would have been replaced by Mr Pine and Sun Feet?

I've been asking that question for five years. So far the only conclusion I can reach is that Eisley would have sold a hundred million copies, won six Grammies, and opened for Radiohead.

Radiohead might have opened for them if they sold 100 million records.Wink

I remember when Room Noises was being made and feeling that a 1-2-3 punch of:

1. Lady of the Wood
2. Mr Pine
3. Sun Feet

would have really set the record off.

lull people in with the beauty of LotW

and then rip their faces off with Mr Pine...

maybe Lady of the Wood would have worked good as the end of side 1 (in the vinyl record sense).

i forgot about this version:

My three alternates for the 1st LP...

Head Against the Sky, Over the Mountains, Sun feet & *Tree Tops

Room Noises was around 40 minutes long. Had they gone the Tori Amos route and maxed out the cd's 78 minutes we could all be glowing that our favorites made the cut. Actually I think both LPs could fit on one cd. I should try that, it would make for a good road trip cd...

Anyways, when Eisley is well established as a legacy artist that will live on to have a nice large catalog, and stable decent sized following for perpetuity they'll unleash the Special Editions, and we'll get Room Noises with another 35 minutes with all the B-sides and Out of Print EP goodness tagged on, with a bonus remastered cd with a re-sequencing per the bands ideal arrangement.

At least that's what I look forward too.

*love that song, but since we are talking about making that cd "rock harder" or at least have a more urbane vibe it doesn't fit, but It was LP worthy and would have fit with some of the more whimsical tunes on RM

I agree with your theory. Can you agree with theories? It's the one I like. ha ha.

My favorite "era" would be now (I'm qualified! I've heard new songs ... and everyone will soon), followed closely by the LC era. Yes, when I joined. Laughing

Lucky, lucky dog.

I can't pick a favorite era. So I guess I won't choose.

Face it. Nobody is as cool as Jaime.

I started listening during Room Noises, saw them right when Combinations came out, and I'll have to go with Combinations to now era. Hopefully when the new album comes out I'll switch my vote to that.
