I try not to be superstitious, or believe in luck, but man alive, What a disappointing day:

Hard day a work

Sewer backed up into finished part of basement, insurance and home warranty don't want to pay

Former High School Peer passed away after suffering a stroke in spring

Spilled stuff in my backpack, got into my work macbook's display, which distorted, crackled, and went out with 2 small puffs of smoke.

Misery Loves Company, any other Storm Clouds hovering for any other LCers? Sad

Mine actually wasn't bad. I kept waiting for something to happen so I was a little stressed by the evening haha. I think it's kinda fun being a little superstitious. Smile

Sorry you had a terrible day, Wil! My day was a pretty average Friday. Took my aunt to her doctor's appointment this morning so I hung out at Starbucks for an hour and a half. Luckily I have an iPhone to keep me entertained during periods like that. Then I didn't do much during the afternoon, just stayed at home and watched some tennis on TV (Maria Sharapova's match and Roger Federer's match. Both won which is who I was going for!). Went for a run this evening, then was going to stay home and watch some stuff on Netflix, but a friend called and asked if I wanted to hang out at a bar. I haven't seen him in a while so I said we should go to Alberta St (awesome street near my house with about 2 or 3 bars every block) which is only 10 minutes from my house. Aaaaaaand, I just got back. Now I need to go to bed because I was supposed to be in bed at 1, haha.

Actually, it was a pretty good Friday. I didn't really think about the date much.

I ate (half of) a huge sammich at Primanti Brothers..

Then came home and bummed for the rest of the day. Nothing exciting.

Lumbering Goalies are a common sight here in Canada so seeing one wouldn't make me run. I did see one of the Vancouver Canucks' "enforcers", Darcy Hordichuk, who would probably scare Jason if angered. He seemed to be in a calm enough mood so I would say my luck was fine that day.

You say that now, but if there were a real Jason, with his real machete, I bet things would go a little differently Razz

So, on the 14th...

I was instructed by the hardware store to cut out the drywall that got wet because it would have black mold of doom. It did.

I rented a carpet cleaner and got to cleaning.

I went to the mac store and they found out at first glance the display was actually there but the backlight was fried, so it's still hosed, but so far it's still functional. a $700 repair to replace the display.

And the work to repair the damage of a bad week, capped off by a Jason Vorhees-less Friday the 13th continues... and I am going to persevere to get back on the bright side of things.

$700 for a new backlight and or backlight power circuit? I'd buy a new laptop for that kinda cash. Shocked

$700 for a new Macbook Pro Display, as opposed to the single component.

It belongs to my J. O. B. so I don't have a choice.

In an unironic note, to prevent this ever happening again, I plan on not transporting my work laptop ever again except to places needed at work, and I went and bought an Emachines laptop for $279 for home and abroad (cost as much as a netbook, so figured I'd just get the full notebook).

So yeah, I can get 2.3 laptops for the cost of the display. Here's the listing for it:

http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=033 5165

it's running pretty quick so far, and I don't plan on doing anything other than writing, file management, itunes, and getting online so it's a good "stunt computer".

My work almost burnt down and there were a TON of mishaps. It was weird. My actual shift that I worked was very pleasant, though.

Friday turned out to be OK - pretty much like every other day.
But I was aware of the date and prepared for anything... Wink
