I think "Smarter" and "Please" are the obvious singles from this batch.

Kind really sticks out as my favorite. Watch it Die, Ambulance, and Oxygen Mask are also really good.

The hq live version of Kind seemed made-to-order for me when I saw it was a bonus track. So glad it happened to be one of them.

Saw someone on facebook mention that "Kind" would be a great lullaby... so true! It's such a sweet song when you think about it that way (not that it wasn't already!)

i just listened to the bonus live version of kind and oh my god i love it so much more - not that i don't love the album version because it's also beautiful with the strings. I like that you can hear sherri in it too.

bonus smarter is also really great, sherri's voice is so nice and soft and delicate and then that guitar punch towards the end is sooo amazing - i also like it better than the album version haha. honestly i'm really blown away by this version. and oh, what's this, chauntelle at the end? i'm perfectly okay with that.

bonus ambuleace is beautiful - it still for some reason doesn't do anything for me though Confused

First time listening.. must say that right off hand, I dig Smarter... what a lovely album this is, I can't wait to kick up the last.fm counts for this record! It's pretty neat to see how many plays, week by week, the songs get on there, go check it out if you haven't already!

I enjoy the live version of Kind and the acoustic Smarter more and more as I listen to them. Moreso than the official album tracks even. So good, especially acoustic Smarter. I feel like it surpasses the album version by a lot.

On the third day now and...whoa...they all sound great. This one's a keeper, folks. Wink

I do think though that when Mr. Moon hits, the album stalls just a little bit. Coming off the beauty of 'Kind' and then mentally dealing with "Ok so another Sherri breakup song." Smile I like the song a lot but it still ranks #11 among the 11 and its placement doesn't do additional favors.

By the way, KLafied I think you were pretty on-target with your early perception about what the album would be like thematically. I don't think anyone was putting down what you said nor the band really took it as criticism, but you probably can feel a little vindicated. Smile

As for the incidental talk about what happened to '192 Days,' seems pretty obvious that would have been a total misfit on here and they made the right decision to leave it off. Naturally I'd love to hear a full production version too, but it's not right for The Valley. As bonus track? Sure! Some LCers say they're talking about adding it to the Australian release.

I know, not exactly 'favorite song' talk but it's weird how there isn't ONE thread specifically tied to discussing all aspects of The Valley. How'd that happen?? Confused Embarassed

Sad and Smarter, but aside from the ones we've already heard prior to the release of this album, I'm quite partial to Please.

Also, for some reason, Watch It Die reminds me of Come Clean.

Sad and Ambulance are the two tracks that really sticks out for me. The rest of the album left me a bit disappointed. Hoping it'll grow on me though.
