So I was watching an interview with the band ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwb_JwDkmdE - it's great), and Sherri mentioned that "I Wasn't Prepared" was partially inspired by an old Disney movie called "Summer Magic." I dug around, and I'm pretty sure it's this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIOEcv87Cm8 You can hear the elongated "oohs" in both songs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7z5mPOqyTlo Thought it was pretty cool! Curious if they've talked about inspirations in other songs... _________________ http://udrivel.blogspot.com |

the escaping song was also inspirited by a book. the ice castle, or the ice someething or other. it was a sci fi book stacy liked. lost at sea was when elliot smith died. thats all that comes to mind right now _________________ Wil's excellent description of me. wilsmith wrote: You're the Anti-Censorship+Topless Twitpic Parodying+Youth Group Video Directing guy that's a champion for the 1st amendment, Videogames as Art, and unrepentant file sharing... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIOEcv87Cm8 Oh wow, that's cool. Summer Magic was a great flick, and I had a big crush on Hayley Mills as a kid. I got to see her perform in The King and I a few years back. This is a fun interview, too. Very relaxed. I think Stacy should record books-on-tape. She has such a pretty speaking voice. |

I did notice you said When and not About immediately. I thought Lost at Sea was a late addition to the Room Noises sessions after they went back to Tyler from LA before going back. I remember Boyd writing about song being written & posting that demo as a video. Thing is, I didn't hear Eisley until after Elliott died, & didn't read trolleywood till well after that. Rob Schnag (sp?) Had to leave them to work on From A Basement to a Hill... I guess they could have written it well before they demoed it though? _________________ yup, that's my name. I definitely followed her on Xanga, but that has been a long time. Found this post because guitargirl was the only other registered user on, so I clicked on their Posts. _________________ I am Torgo.
