But a lot of Eisley's melodies (from all their albums and EPs) contain folk popish melodies. I don't mean Peter,Paul and Mary or Bob Dylan, but folkish none the less. For example, Eisley covering a Joni Mitchell song would not be unfathomable.

Just thought of them covering "Help Me" and got goosebumps.

and a lot of the Sucré textures reminded me of some of the electronic/folkish soundscapes on Bon Iver, Bon Iver.

Help Me is on Court and Spark right? I just remember the Khaki album cover I think... with You Turn Me On I'm a Radio and Blonde in the Bleachers. That era of Joni Mitchell was the beginnings of an incorporation of Jazz in her pop sensibilities, and Help Me has a whole lot of proggy jazz fusion twists and turns in the arrangement. Joni Mitchell was always very sophisticated though. People might recognize her for some of her catchier folk stuff, but going back to Songs For a Seagull, she embraced pushing what was considered standard far to it's boundaries. She was capable of "Chamber Music" that was arguably peerless, or going 100% american folk. By the end of the 70s she was all out Avante Garde and beyond labeling, but as brilliant as ever. Hejira and Mingus are true art, and The Hissing of Summer Lawns and Don Juan's Reckless Daughter and marvels, and now that I think about it, good choices to reference precursors to Bon Iver's brand.

I can see Stacy covering "Help Me" but not the whole ensemble. it would be killer though.

For those who don't know, Jeremy Larson is mixing the album this go around. It's happening right now. I'm really excited to hear how he mixes an Eisley album because I love how he mixes stuff.

He is going to do a killer job I'm sure. I have a feeling it won't be like Deep Space though, at least in terms of the dark smokey vibe. He's all about lushness, which I think will flatter material that is more in a Room Noises style. Not saying that's what's coming, but if One Last Song & A Minor Bird had a Baby, and that's what the next Eisley album sounded like, I would want Jeremy Larson producing it.

I listened to all the raw recordings/unmixed stuff, and 1 or 2 mixed songs. Nothing totally complete, but all very impressive! Everyone has let loose and inputs a lot more. Weston is unchained and does some amazing drum work. Chauntelle's song(s)... wow.

Everyone seems much happer recording in their own space, with no one breathing down their necks. It was a very joyful and cathartic recording process, and the songs speak to that fact!
