I was talking with Jamie on FB about Currents so I thought I'd come over to LC. I've been lurking for years...Shocked

I ordered a CD and LP. They both came in the mail this afternoon.
So about Currents:
It is so good. The only track that may need to grow on me is "Blue Fish," but maybe that's because it is between the two songs I had already heard? "Save my Soul," "Wonder English," and "Real World" are the initial stand-out tracks for me. I just love all the lyrics--so much. I gasped a few times how good they were, just beautiful and powerful.
It is a really cool gift creatively how they had full control over this album. They even recorded it in their backyard! I kept thinking, this is exactly how they want it to be, the exact tracklisting the way they want it, they put this song in there for a reason, etc. I, too, noticed the more spiritual feel of the lyrics, but I found it really beautiful--just the whole theme of Love saving us. "Love" could be anything. It could be a relationship that pulls you out of a dark time or salvation. I love how fluid the lyrics feel and accommodate for either story. The overwhelming redemptive feel of the record leaves me feeling hopeful. A completely different experience than The Valley.
I'm looking forward to my second, third,...hundredth listen! Cool

No love for My Cup of Tea? Laughing

What's up with Pandora?

I was going to listen to the next track and it prompted me to Sign Up.
Now I can't go back to the Stream. Evil or Very Mad

The same thing happened to me with Pandora. I made the mistake of pausing and it made me register to resume playing. Rolling Eyes

I would love to hear My Cup of Tea finished. That song is adorable. Another favorite demo I forgot to mention is Before... one of the more sophisticated demos.

But anyway... Currents. I pre-ordered mine from Amazon since I have free 2 day shipping, but I don't think they'll ship it until Monday Sad

Ugh, Before. I would LOVE to hear that recorded properly. That's one of my favorite demos.

Just ordered the CD. I'm really pleased to see them put out an album that's more true to their talents. I felt like the last couple albums weren't a good meshing of Stacy and Sherri's vocals. Currents, however, does a fantastic job of it. I'm really impressed.

On my second listen, and I have been wowed because of how much Chauntelle, Weston & Garron get to drive the songs, and alternately Stacy on Blue Fish, which totally sounds like Jeremy Larson's solo style in the best possible way. Sherri's vocal is one her best ever, and the use of effects on the vocal are brilliant.

The second half of the album is where I got distracted chatting with a friend about the stream so I could get them to listen since she went to the KC show with us back in 2011 was it? Has it seriously been 2 years? Time flies.

This is definitely zone-out music.

They have no need to ever use a pro studio or producer/ engineer/ mixer outside of Andy Freeman and Jeremy Larson from here on out. I'm sure at some point Weston & Garron will be able to take over those responsibilities as well since they put the studio together.

Laugh if you want, but for me, this is the equivalent of the following revelatory albums for these artist:

Bjork - Post
Sarah Mclachlan - Surfacing
Radiohead - In Rainbows
Tori Amos - The Choirgirl Hotel
U2 - War
Depeche Mode - Songs of Faith and Devotion
DCFC - The Photo Album

Before is an Eisley demo/song?
Was that in The Baby batch?
That doesn't sound familiar or show up on YouTube.

Yup! I have mixed feelings of it though. It's not terrible but it seems like some of the repetitive intentional pop songs they wrote for combinations ie. go away, taking control, ect.

I uploaded that song on youtube a few years back Laughing A fan called me out for it saying "it was disrespectful to the band" or something along those lines and asked to take it down.. Hence, I took it down.

Is anybody else in love with Chauntelle's solo on "Wonder English?"

There's a moment on Save My Soul where the music sounds like a song from Peanuts...

Overall, I'm really diggin' the new album. Chauntelle has been holding out for too long! Millstone was lovely.

Is anyone else automatically in love with Shelter from the get-go? Not sure why but I just fell in love with it as soon as Stacy's vocals started.

I am in love with this album from the first go through though, can't wait to listen to it in full again and again so I can pick out my winners.

there are some nice guitar melodies in here too.
its nice to hear them trying newer sounds with the guitars.

even the guitar "groove" in currents is pretty darn good.

the album is great.
i will pop my vinlyl in today and see how it sounds.
