If you still write on paper, what do you prefer to use?

I use fountain pens and occasionally mechanical pencils.

Fountain pens and rollerballs for me! Very occasionally I use fine point felt tips as well, Leonard Cohen style. Pencils are for drawing, as far as I'm concerned--they aren't dark or permanent enough for writing.

Definitely with you about pencils. Although I use them if they're the closest thing at hand when I'm writing songs.

My favorite are the Pilot G2 gel ink rollerball pens.

If I'm only writing on one side of the paper then Sharpie Extra Fine Points are my go to. I used to like gel rollers, but they tended to smear on me, or dry out way quicker than they should.

If I'm writing on both sides, standard ballpoint is okay, but .5mm Mechanical pencils are my preferences.

Depends on the situation. I use pens when I'm writing notes or taking tests in class. I use a pencil for stage management and other theatre stuff.

Pen-wise, I use these Precise V5 rolling ball extra fine tip pens. For pencils, I use 0.7 #2 mechanical pencils.

That’s exactly what I was going to say. I use nothing else. I had my parents ship some to me here in China, and I frequently talk about them to coworkers and students. There are twelve-year-olds in Manchuria with limited English skills who know that Pilot G2 pens are apparently quite special.

I remember them being all the rage with Moleskine enthusiasts a few years ago. But then I discovered fountain pens.

If you're crazy about rollerball pens, there are refillable options out there...

I've loved Moleskines less and less over the past couple of years. Not because they're trendy and EVERYBODY is using them now. There's just something that's gone weird about their paper. They aren't as nice to write in as they once were.

In the mean time, I've got a couple of Rhodia notebooks and a pad that I'm dabbling in as well. Holy crap.

Yep, I never leave the house without one, and I have an extra stash of like ten at work.
