Mazes and Monsters I was reading a thread on another forum about D&D, and somebody mentioned this TV movie starring Tom Hanks. It's about some college kids who decide to live action role play in a mine near their school. I found it on YouTube and ended up watching the whole laughably bad thing. Here, I'll save you some time and show you the good parts. Tom Hanks freaks out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6AOd6r6Qi8 The emotional conclusion atop the WTC (with Oscar quality acting from Hanks at the 50 second mark, lol): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfxXug5ZMdk Star Wars: The Force Awakens I saw it last night in 3D, and wow. It was easily the best Star Wars movie since Empire, a real throwback to the old ones. That took me back to being a kid, which was fun. I may see it again once the crowds die down. |

I have been checking the Eisley related Instagrams to see what they say about Star Wars, but I don't know if any of them have seen it. Very surprised. They take photos of everything, but I haven't seen the movie mentioned at all. Their band name is from Star Wars! _________________ I am Torgo. I take care of the place while the Master is away. |

The Big Short I thought it was an excellent movie with a strong, multi-layered cast and some fun cameos during the necessary exposition segments. I really enjoyed it, and it was a good reminder about how much worse things could have gotten back then. Joy I was kind of surprised to see this movie getting panned in reviews and on imdb. I did think that it ran a bit long, but it was still good. I would rank the work from this cast and director combination in this order: Silver Linings Playbook Joy American Hustle |

^ thought it was a fun action romp. I really liked the first movie. Once the premise had been broached and explored, though, I think the series became progressively less interesting. Still a good outing though. - Spotlight - Calvary Heavy stuff- two dense, thought-provoking movies. Highly recommend both. Also- Nighcrawler Different kettle of fish, but very good. Jake in rare form. |

I think the dead of winter is all about heavy films after christmas cheer has withered. Case in point: The Revenant ![]() The Big Short ![]() _________________ yup, that's my name. Trainwreck I watched about half of it before my girlfriend and I got bored and I had a stomachache, so we turned it off. It's not terrible, but didn't really hold our attention. John Cena was funny though. _________________ Do I even need a signature anymore? |

RE: Deadpool - All the movies I've seen this year, going back to Star Wars actually, were group outings with friends from my band days. So, it's more of a social outing than a "Hey, I REALLY want to see this movie." outing. Most of the big movies I see, it's with this particular group of friends. We do most of the comic movies and franchises. _________________ yup, that's my name. FOR YOUR RATING PLEASURE: 4 LIKE Buttons, 1 NEUTRAL, 1 VEXED, 5 DISLIKE buttons. Really well done, for that sort of thing! I agree. My only nitpick was that most of the twists were pretty predictable. Deadpool didn't do anything for me. I actually fell asleep in the theater during the slowest part when he was getting sick. But, to be fair, I'm not really big on comic book movies overall. |
