Super busy with work, so the slack is real. Been hearing some good new (to me) songs in the car on the commute though, and as such, googling lyrics to find out the artists and coming across the accompanying videos for said songs... and sometimes those artists sound so familiar and good, but I don't know who they are until I do a song search with google as it's playing... https://youtu.be/TwjMiWgCi8E _________________ yup, that's my name. Nowhere Man wrote: The song is so moody early to mid 80s in a good way it feels like I heard it before, though I probably haven't. I can see it being in a GTA game probably. They went high concept with an ultra low budget, but kudos to them for trying to make something meaningful. Now I'm curious to what the whole album sounded like. Skimming the other videos, that might be the only album of his I would consider looking into, the adherence to 80s flavors of the moment becomes a curse after 84ish. I remember seeing November Rain & what was the sequel... Don't Cry maybe??? I didn't really like GNR beyond loving the song Welcome to the Jungle, but the spectacle was hard to look away from. _________________ yup, that's my name. I think the biggest songs for The Jon Butcher Axis were Holy War https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBPS7xTd45g&ab_channel=NocturnalVagabo nd and the more bluesy Hendrix type song Wishes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGc9d93oBuM&ab_channel=pivoncat%28Char lie%22Chaz%22Pivonka%29 . My favorite Guns N' Roses video is this version of Welcome to the Jungle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRZu-xRzk2U&ab_channel=AndyRehfeldt |

Been hearing some good songs on the radio again, but most don't have official videos, so I am going to go back a bit because this is a beautifully shot video and a song that took me from being kind of into a band to giving them carte blanche going forward: Reflection _________________ yup, that's my name. Never got into the original series, but did watch Fire, Walk With Me, and those Richard Marx videos inspired by it... This {song}is chill, makes me think of the album tracks on that Hooverphonic debut album actually. Me, I got exposed to a new group, well knew to me, via the radio. Love this song. It's a mixture of old and new, just too good by my standards, Electric Guest - Back For Me https://youtu.be/Qnev1IxJCEU _________________ yup, that's my name. Richard Marx? How was he connected? The original series is one of my favorites but I never saw Fire Walk With Me. There's a bar in the series and Julee Cruise sings there. Which was weird because it's in a little logging town in the middle of the forest. You'd think they'd have a blues band or something more down to earth. In the new series it looks like they have these new bands take her place, at least I haven't seen her so far. That Chromatics song sounds like it's based on "Falling" the theme song for the show. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrJWDY9HPe0&ab_channel=Jdsl2008 |

I'm almost 100% we talked about this on this board at least once before. There were two videos that were inspired by Twin Peaks https://youtu.be/gdmHHoI9beM I remember thinking it was Hazard and then another version of Hazard, but it might have been a different song continuing the story. David Lynch and Wim Wenders have a knack for throwing in their favorite musicians in places that would make it seem surreal, but turns out smaller touring musicians end up playing in all manner of odd places. https://youtu.be/Q42ddNiweyY _________________ yup, that's my name. I have never heard that Richard Marx song before in my life and that video makes a mockery of and is an affront to the illustriousness of Twin Peaks! The show seems to have stalled out but it's cool that some bands I've never heard of are getting featured. Au Revoir Simone - Lark. Eisley did a tour where they stayed at stranger's houses. Maybe just a couple of places. They played a weird venue too, like at a casino to empty chairs. |

I never said anything about that Richard Marx video was good. It was just very heavily promoted back when it came out. Riding the hype off Twin Peaks was a hot ticket back then. I finally looked up this song I kept hearing on the radio and assuming was some combo of Ted Leo and Taking Back Sunday. Now I can say I know a Cloud Nothings song after knowing the name for so long. https://youtu.be/rt9N_yHvwyM _________________ yup, that's my name. This isn't a music video but I like the Bird and the Bee and Foo Fighters but I haven't been keeping up with their newer music or the members so I didn't know anything about this. Just funny hearing Dave Grohl talk about the Bird and the Bee. The Making of Concrete and Gold |

A fan of The Bird & The Bee as well, and if you're on FB you might have even seen my comments on their post of the video rattling off music nerd facts about Greg Kurstin's older bands. Anyways, he and Inara are awesome, and Dave needed some help getting out of the musical rut he's been in since he peaked with the Sound City soundtrack. Meanwhile I've been hearing and seeing some interesting stuff lately, Gold Star goes to Circa Survive for this one though: https://youtu.be/oWYaTxWZt68 _________________ yup, that's my name. I first saw the video about the Foo Fighters and the Bird and the Bee on Facebook but I didn't notice your comments. Pretty cool that she responded on the thread. Here's a great terrible video of one of my old favorites. I never saw videos of my favorite metal bands way back when and I'm kinda glad I didn't. Queensrÿche - Queen of the Reich |
