ok... here's an idea. (other than my previous diatribe)

We all throw our weight on ONE (1) effort.
One radio station. One market. We take whatever
accumulated force (power) we have together...
including all you guys, all our myspace friends...
(most are opportunists - I fear) and we do one
solitary blitz... possibly to one person... a dj
at one radio station. We hit them so hard, they
don't know what to do... they're left with one
choice: to play Eisley on their radio station.

Honestly, we've never really harnessed
the combined power toward a single, solitary
effort... like taking the sun and beaming it thru
a magnifying glass on one focal point... we
might could start a fire.

"it's a little crazy..... but it JUST MIGHT WORK!!!

If it was a good idea, what market, what station?
Let's see your ideas. It's got to be a really smart
strategy... I dunno. "Morning Becomes Eclectic"?
Some station in the MidWest? Not LA or NY... too
obvious. Too ordinary. It has to be a gateway
station.... one respected, but not the one everyone
expects...Who has a great angle? It might be
worth a try...

Or maybe this is just an idea in the rough. Perhaps our
efforts would better be served some other way. Emailing
a radio station could get triffle cliche'. In any case, if we
put our minds together, we might could create a kind of
marketing effort that would wow the label... maybe we
launch our effort upon them! (in which case I'll delete
this post and say it was your idea).

Think of what 10,000 letters could accomplish. What
message could we send to the industry about change....
what could we accomplish as a sensible army - desirous of
creating a better music climate... in radio.... from labels.
How can we make a difference? I sound like like an
aggrandizing fool. I don't take myself too serious.
Just random cerebral cylinders firing at random.

Me and Kim are gonna go out on a hot date. I'll see if
she has any great ideas. I want to make a difference!!
Not just with Eisley as a tool... but I think we're all in
agreement - Eisley and fans could be a formidable force...
a strategic weapon... We should make this a creative
project and just do something because it's fun to accomplish
things... and then say, "we did it".

i think Morning Becomes Eclectic would be an amazing idea - also, NPR seems to spotlight a lot of more "indie" bands, or bands with more unique sounds. i think they would really get behind Eisley.

I love your idea... I'm totally down for anything!
I'll write letters/emails... whatever you need.
I'm not sure which radio station we should attack, but hopefully people will come up with ideas on here.

I just noticed you have almost 95,000 myspace friends... whoa!
That + the members here = one GIANT army.

I'd also be game, of course.

I like those suggestions about Morning Becomes Eclectic and NPR. NPR would be really good. Folks can really make a difference when they get together. Look at history. Or that "Free Fiona" effort. We could do that; we can all send bags of coffee beans with "Play Eisley" or "Free the Radio" on them. Wink

Seriously though, worked out right, it could make a difference.

In Mississippi all the play on the radio is Rascal Flatts and Beyonce anyway.

Not even Flyleaf.

Or Death Cab.

Or even Taking Back Sunday for goodness sake.

Sad Eh. I gave up on radio a long time ago. Mmm ipod converter thing.

Ha I forgot about the Free Winona thing. Nope, Free Fiona, like Fiona Apple:

http://www.freefiona.com/

When the last album went through a whole bunch of problems it was supposedly recorded but never released by the record company. There's different stories as to what happened but I guess fans campaigned and among other things sent real apples to the record company. (that's where I got the Coffee idea Wink) Whether that's what did it or not, you can now find Extrodinary Machine (rerecorded/produced) in stores!

Whoa that's crazy. I didn't know it was supposed to be released in 2003. I'd be kinda mad if I was her, but i'm glad they finally released it because I love that cd.

I did the same thing with FlyLeaf! I was like, hmmm! But sadly I haven't gotten any of their music yet Confused
I think everyone is saying some pretty great things as to why, and I agree with most of it. I'll love the day I turn on a station and Eisley comes on.

what about somewhere in the UK? Per your earlier comment, it's a different ballgame over there so maybe they'd be more receptive to a grassroots movement. A strong following in the UK, or any overseas market, is probably good street cred for bands like Eisley.

As far as the US goes Denver has my vote. Denver and all of Colorado has a laid back do-what-they-want feel to me. I think they'd be open to something different and get a kick out of all the commotion. I get the same feeling about Washington state too.

edit:

Hand written letters would be awesome. Boyd's right about the cliche of email getting tiresome for a radio station but imagine bags and bags of envelopes all different colors and sizes. hah I think that would be very original (these days) and effective.
