The house, yard, and birthday stuff just kind of remind me of that movie, and all the kids are wearing clothes that would kind of fit the period. Plus the song seems like it would fit. Just an observation. I hadn't even thought about that before, but you're right. Good observation. The way that the camera panned across the whole band kind of reminded me of Pink Floyd's Live at Pompei camera work, and of course Jonathan's awesome P-Bass closeups were remeniscent of Roger Waters... |

All this time I've been confusing their voices. I can tell them apart now, but I had them backwards. I've yet to see the band live. Allie _________________ You see how I go to pieces, that I'm laying on the ground like the sky is so heavy when I could be brave. - The Innocence Mission Myspace |

Perhaps the juxtaposition of dark(er) lyrics against the light(er) setting weirds me out in a way that doesn't really allow my brain to rationalize and fit the video into some well known pattern of thinking; it's certainly not overtly stereotypical...considering the medium. It's subtle, but I can't wrap my brain around this creation... I can't reslove what I see and hear; there's something dark about the blue sky and there's something happy about their melancholy expressions. Maybe that's why it feels happy and depressing, dark and light at the same time... Do dark sky always convey the suffocating, emotion of darkness? Does light always make us feel warm and happy? Sometimes the best literal translation of an idea can produce the worst outcome and vice versa. Video's are known for attempting to skew these realities, but few succeed in accomplishing what I think they should for the band. I think this one more than met the goals. cheers. _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. Strange editing. Strange... everything. How much did the director know about the band before going in to the shoot? To me, it didnt do justice the band as a whole. Lots of Stacy, Jon, Weston, but not alot of Chauntelle or Sherri (less Chauntelle than Sherri). Alot of Stacy vocal shots, very little emphasis on the Rhodes. It seemed to me that it missed alot of very cool things about the band itself, expecially since this was supposed to be their "intro" video. Alot of the shots while the band was playing were interesting to say the least, but i really liked the "story" shots, the toy piano and Sherri on the trampoline with grass on her knees in particular, very cool! Chauntelle singing was kind of ironic, but it looked BEAUTIFUL. Oh well, everyone is a critic. _________________ I can't find an icon |

. I'm glad the two guys got quite a few individual shots as well,I think sometimes they fall into the background with the three girls 'fronting" the band but I was happy to see more of them in this clip. _________________ |

Awesome video. I've watched it four times today already. I had not heard Marvelous Things before I saw the vid, after hearing it today I went right to Amazon.ca to get the EP (i tried to three weeks ago, but they said it would be 4-6 weeks for delivery so i held off, now it's down to 5 days!) ...oh and like a few others, i was blown away by Sherri..wow. |

I really really hope this song picks up on MTV. Well, screw MTV, MTV2 is a much better station. Though technically you could call this song a single, it would awesome to hit up the UK market with a single release (since the US single market is almost dead) with some live b-sides or studio outtakes/demos (if they exist). Just a thought. |
