I am not sure of your question, but, I will try to answer what I think the question is.
I am assuming that by the "Evanescence" reference, you are referring to the famous comment made by the guitar player in that band?
I do not know who all in that band claim to be Christian, so I cannot judge whether the whole band has turned their back on their Christian beliefs.

EISLEY saw early on, that their music that was coming to them, from them, to them, was not "songs to the Church", necessarily. Their music is more the type of music that takes you back to a simple time in life, and makes you feel happy, or are songs about things in life, and have such an artistic bend, that the Christian labels we spoke with, really advised us against coming to that market, because it is too hard to sell.
They listed past bands that they had tried to do that for, and really advised us to find a mainstream label. This went along with what we (as a family), were feeling for the band.
This style, is just what comes out of them. They don't try to pull out songs to fit into a certain category. Therefore, the "Christian market" as an exclusive distribution for their music, would not have worked.
We, (as a family), did not have a problem with supporting our kid's on this path. We quickly saw that, it seems that there is some kind of double standard if you do music for a career, and you have Christian beliefs, you are expected to do songs for the Church, preach from stage, etc.
But, if you are a Christian that paints for a living, or is an artist, (as my husband is), you are not expected to paint Christian pictures, or do Christian artwork.
It's been interesting for us to see, that, if you call yourself a Christian, it becomes media interests, but if they were buddhist, Jewish, or any other religion, this would not be highlighted. That's ok with us, just interesting.

Since you may not be familiar with how this all went down, they really didn't "go looking" to get signed. Things just started happening that led us into the direction (that is obvious to us now), that they are where they are suppose to be.
Whether the Church understands this or not, we understand that some people in the Church will not understand, and that's just part of living life out in the public. EISLEY is who they are, they are not ashamed of it, and are just happy to have the opportunity to share their unique style of music to the world.

As far as EISLEY being involved in the Christian scene in Tyler, it's hard to keep doing that when you are traveling of course. But when they are home, they are still very much connected to their home church.

One of the most incredible opportunites that they have had with this amazing path that has opened up for them, is to raise the moral standard in an industry that has the "f-bomb" as it's main vocabulary word, and girls that strip down, to get their talent noticed. They are being featured in mainstream magazines with ALL THEIR CLOTHES ON, as a hope for young girls that flocked to Brittney as a role model.
Also, to be an example to the world of a wholesome, loving family that is not ashamed that they love each other, in a world that doesn't believe that families can really survive, or exist.
And, to live out their "walk" before a world that is looking in, and love people along the way that would have never stepped into a Mercy Me concert, but upon meeting EISLEY, find a group of people that don't believe they are "rock stars", but put on their pants the same way anyone else does, and feel grateful for the people that they are getting to touch and meet, along the way.
Does "the Church", (as a whole), necessarily "get this", or validate this as living a Christian faith? Probably not, but individual obedience to what God has called you to personally is more important than anyone's "opinion" about whether you are "doing the right thing with your life".

EISLEY knows that this has been a God thing for them, and they are very much in touch with reality, their faith, (and fortunately), still have their parents very much involved in overseeing what all is going on with the day to day life of living in front of the public, and being in a band that plays to the whole world, not just an exclusive ring of people.
They take no credit for the opportunities they are having, and are daily thankful for this time in their career, wheter it be short and sweet, or a long term career.

I hope that answers your question. If not, please state the question more clearly, and I'll try to help, since they are still out on the road and are not really able to respond to all the posts on the board.
By the way, I am the mother of 4 of these kids so I know them very intimately. If I saw them getting off track, getting big headed, or prideful....I'd still smack em! Wink

A question was asked here, then answered by the Mother of 4/5ths of Eisley.. followed by a further dissection - and argument - over the topic by various forum members..

Anyway, it got out of hand. We have not yet had to close any threads in this forum, which is really cool and says something about the members, I think. Hopefully this thread will not have to be the first one to get locked.

I've deleted the other posts in this thread. As I said, the question was asked, and it was answered. It probably should have been asked directly (privately) to the band, but.. no harm, no foul. Lets just leave this thread be and not revive anything, alright?

If you haven't read the Forum Rules & Guidelines, please do. All posters (members or not) are expected to have read them and abide by them.
