Posted: Sat May 10, 2003 7:53 pm Hello people. I'm new here. And I just discovered Eisley, which automatically makes me less cool than of all of you. Anyhoo, I just wanted to: a) say howdy b) mention that I'm looking forward to the EP c) beg the band to come to Boston someday. But really, all that doesn't warrant a new topic. So I've come up with this little poll for y'all. We all love the band's original tunes, but what if you had to pick a popular or semi-popular cover tune for them to... cover? What song would you pick? Personally, I think they'd do smashing versions of The Beatles "Rain" and radiohead's "Let Down" or R.E.M's "fall on me." What say you? |

What's up Spooky. Boston ehh? wow. How'd you hear about this band? Also, you must be very cool because you posed a question that eisley "threaders" must have deemed important. Check this out: http://www.eisley.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=757&start=0 Some of your very ideas are on the first page...and I think there are at least 5 pages or more on the topic. Boston....but, we don't know anyone in Boston. You're perhaps the very first. Are any of the Coldplay dates near Boston? Boyd |

hah yeah, welcome dude, we don't do that newbies are lame stuff here, we're all just, you know, lovers of music and stuff right? right.. but yeah i'm curious as well, how did you hear about these guys? and if you wanna see them play, do what boyd says, look for a coldplay show nearby, because they're opening up for coldplay.. _________________ "strength is just an accident arising from the weakness of others." ~Joseph Conrad ---------------

beware only if you are a yard gnome with a bong... those aren't too well liked, at least not by abductee... you are twice as awesome as me, i didn't even do an obligatory "hey its me" thread when i joined, and i didn't join until i had liked the band for years. that and you correctly used the word "anyhoo" which adds at least a grade or two to your coolness factor... ok im rambling... again... |

D'oh! Not only did I do a "please greet & love the newbie" post, but I re-submitted someone else's already thriving poll. That's two strikes against me right there. But you were all kind enough to respond anyway, so thanks. Umm... I first heard about the band because of the Star Wars reference, but didn't look into them until a recent magazine thing. Entertainment Weekly, I think? They seemed pretty neat, so I downloaded a song or five from Kazaa and the rest is history. (By the way, I'm one of those people who uses downloading services to preview music, not pirate music, so no worries there.) I didn't have intentions of doing the 'message board' thing until I saw that you guys were cool and I read the quote, "I think music is God's best idea ever." That, my friends, is good stuff. Alas, seeing the band live anytime soon just doesn't look like it's gonna happen this go-round. Ironic really, since I've seen Coldplay thrice now, but it looks like they're skipping New England for this leg of the tour. Rats. The Atlantic Ocean sends its regards. And a sorta-late Happy Mom's Day to Chauntelle. And this is never gonna post, but instead leave me with an awful "invalid session" message. |

it posted alright... i don't think you have to worry too incredibly much about people killing you for piracy here... im not a piracy advocate or anything but i don't really get the vibe around here that the band is going to crucify you for downloading mp3's... considering they offer them on the sight and all i think its ok to have them... but yeah. so glad you are here. tell the Atlantic she is a sweetheart for me |

I am also from Boston, and I agree, Eisley should definately come to Boston. You know there'd be at least two people at the show, right? The closest show on the Coldplay tour is in NYC, but I believe it's sold out (not to mention that my car probably would'nt be able to make it that far). I read about Eisley in Rolling Stone, they were compared to the Flaming Lips, so I checked them out. Personally, I don't think they sound that much like the Flaming Lips, but were amazing nonetheless, and have quickly become one of my favorite bands based on the various songs I've downloaded. That's how I heard of them. P.S. If you came to Boston, you could play in my basement. My mom would make you banana bread. |
