 Post subject: A question for the band (or whoever knows best)Posted: Wed Nov 13, 2002 5:04 pm 
Don't interpret this as critical rhetoric, it is intended purely as a means of alleviating my curiosity, and I've seen others similarly puzzled, so maybe I'm serving as the voice of the people: "A special style of music . . . is for you." From whence does this statement come? What does it mean? In unrelated news, I just used massive amounts of oil based paint in my bedroom, and didn't bother to leave the door open or anything. Boy am I dizzy. um, like, whatever _________________ The day it single with half is done. Today I questioned all never. I have two way to choose: To be forever to crush and miss of with relief compensating single close to the failure memory, or cynicism. No the exit. I do not want either or one. Do fact any life does it come here, or it is only myself? A choice between torturing or the very grotesque escape. -Josey Price comrade |

i dunno; a thing to say...a differentiating blurb. Maybe those Moss kids could answer it, but they're always practicing. Like right now they're up there at the church and will call around 2 or 3am. Anyway - 2 parts to the idea: 1) "a special kind of music" - whimsical, bogus, true...I don't know; it's arguably "special"...I could quote from friends/fans who say they cried through a Moss tune, even an entire show, but I won't. 2.) "is for you" - like a gift. not self-serving. (here's something i made for you) I enjoy the ill-matched juxtaposition (special music....for you) But in the end, it's just a thing to say. Aye, the room's red with white trim and the ceiling papered with the pages of 1984, and a Chaucer poem about the sun rising written on the skylight (courtesy of my over-motivated Medieval literature studying sister who was not satisfied just to write all over my room, but insisted upon giving me a crash course in the pronunciation of Middle English words (and, being almost equally as nerdy as she, I must concur, it's really quite neat). Paint thinner. That is a different story. The first time I used the oil based paint (to put the first coat on this same dresser) (By the way, dresser drawer handles. I need twelve of 'em and they sell those things for nearly $5 each! I could send three African kids to college with that money! It's really a brilliant scam though. Those dresser drawer handles people have got us by the bollocks and can therefore price them in any manner they please. What happens is this: all these do-it-yourselfers, such as myself (in this particular situation), end up doing whatever they had in mind to their dressers (painting), then they put the drawers back in place (the old, deteriorated, rotten-wood handles having been removed prior to painting) to see if they still fit, I guess (I don't know what possessed me to put them back in really, but the fact is the handleless drawers are now in the dresser), and then they realize that the drawers offer no means of being removed! I haven't wasted any of my precious time trying to think how I could get the drawers open without the handles; it's obviously impossible. If drawers could be opened without handles the whole drawer handle industry would collapse -- something which it certainly has not done -- because no one in their right mind would pay $5 for a drawer handle unless they absolutely needed it. Now what if I had put something valuable in one of the drawers and desperately needed to get it out? Well, I'd have to shell out $5 a piece for some lousy, streamlined, modernesque drawer handles wouldn't I! I curse my bourgeoisie oppressors!) I decided to clean out the paintbrush (using paint thinner (by the way, we have now returned from an overlengthy parenthesized digressionin the story, for which I apologize)) in the bathroom, an act for which the rest of the family was none too appreciative, but again, that's another story. Anyway, I always do my finest work behind closed doors, and not wanting to make a mediocre job of cleaning out my paintbrush (also overpriced at the same hardware store), I shut the door and went at it. Probably about fifteen minutes later I had satisfied myself that the brush was practically like new and I stood up (Yes, I had actually got up on the counter and sat down by the sink). Standing up is when it all hits you. In all the occasions I have had in my life to be "buzzed" beyond comprehension (few but thorough) I have noticed that as long as I remain sitting the entire time, I might as well be in a normal state of mind. So, I finally got hold of that elusive doorknob, threw the door open and fell flat on my face in the hallway, landing on top of my paintbrush, leaving a white stain on my black Get Up Kids T-shirt (The Get Up Kids having recently released a fairly disappointing album, their T-shirt was demoted from prime "night on the town" gear, to home maintenance smock.) which really bummed me out, not for the shirt's sake, but because it pointed out that my paintbrush cleaning skills were significantly below par. If you dare, remind me sometime to tell the story of the obscenely fat guy who worked at this particular hardware store (licensed DJ and doorknob specialist) and his theory on the decline of rock n' roll. That story also happens to revolve around the Get Up Kids shirt, spawned from him asking me accusingly, "that isn't a boy band is it?" By the way, thanks Boyd, for the, um, clarification(?) Boyd gets my vote for the "coolest dad of the century" award. My dad, though the most remarkable human being I've ever encountered (even if he weren't my dad), doesn't quite fall into the "cool" category. Every two years we get his pop-culture fix by making a father-son outing to the latest James Bond movie. Coming this week, I think. Yay! That may have been an over-exaggeration of my dad's alienation from the outside world, but James Bond is pretty cool; you can't exaggerate that. _________________ The day it single with half is done. How to clean an oil brush:
Do NOT pour thinner down the drain. Dump it out in a part of your yard where you don't want anything to grow. Do not use a latex brush for oil, or vice-versa. For latex brushes, do the same thing, but with water, not thinner. And use more of it, since it's free. So yeah, I used to be a painter. -Mark |

Well this may just be the fact that my mom is screaming at me or the lack of sleep and food. But how are you going to get your dresser handles on if you can't open the doors...crap...i'm teird! Maybe you could have like rop handles...you could forget the whole lit theme-isher and go for a whole like 10yr. old sailor theme...That would be soo cool since I never had a themed room...It was always um Pink...Yaah Pink... Oh well i hope you can open your drawers...good lord...that didn't sound right...better get some coffee ~cat  _________________
