I've known of a few up and coming artists to have what some call "secret shows". Basically it's for if they have a little free time during a tour or just in general and they play at the small local coffeehouse type venues as a "surprise guest" or something to that effect. It's a good way to get new listeners to hear your music and have an opportunity to talk to average joes who might not have heard of Eisley and would really help to get the word out. I've bought CD's from some bands like that. I know of quite a few venues in the San Diego area that would be perfect for something like that and I'm sure there are enough boardies that could say the same for their area too. I know it's a somewhat unlikely suggestion, but I figure it never hurts to try.

I've seen a "secret" Eisley show before, but it wasn't horribly secret. But holy poo, it was great.

I suppose that's sort of the point... maybe? Maybe I'm not sure what my point was, so hard to keep track of these things. There are places I like to go to where people come to hear good music and half the time don't even know who is playing. Maybe not to the extent of an open mic night or anything but definitely with a croud of open ears and music lovers. And I know San Diego couldn't possibly be the only city with places like that. Though I suppose all of this would probably be back-tracking to the "early days" when you guys played local venues and took the change of only having an audience of a handfull of people. Haha I think the fact that I refered to a SECRET SHOW sparked more interest than anything ("WOW a secret show that would be the COOLest").

That would just be sad. But, I'm curious, if an Eisley plays a song and nobody is there to hear it, does it make a sound? Razz

well eisley would hear it, and besides someone will always be listening to eisley

but seriously

ya'll should just come to dallas and set up on the street curb and play, that would be kickin and im sure people would come

some band did that at the turkry trot(Big marathon in dallas) and evryone stopped to listen, and their music echoed throughout the buildings all over dallas

it was cool...

FRANZ PLAY SHOCK LONDON SHOW

FRANZ FERDINAND tested songs for their second album at a top secret show in LONDON last night.

The band, who have just returned from their latest tour in the US, were only supposed to play two more shows in 2004 – at the Glasgow SECC (December 18-19) – hometown gigs to celebrate the end of an amazing year for the band.

However, Franz turned up at the Mildmay Social Club in Stoke Newington last night (December 15) for an unannounced set. The group played under the name A Touch Of Velvet.

Watched by only 150 fans and invited guests, the group played new songs including ’I’m Your Villain’, 'It’s So Easy' and ’Your Diary’, alongside classics like ’Darts Of Pleasure’ and ’Michael’. There was also a cover of The Fire Engines' 'Get Up And Use Me'.

A fan at the show told NME.COM: "It felt more like a Christmas party than anything else. There wasn’t a setlist, Alex Kapranos was asking what songs they wanted to play, and they did them. All good fun."

Speaking after the show, Alex said: "We did the gig last night for a friend of ours who runs the Guided Missile label, it was their tenth anniversay party. It's such a great label and it was an honour to do the show. The gig was pretty amazing. It was fantastic to be playing such a small and idiosyncratic venue again, a real reminder of our early gigs."

Following their last two shows of the year Franz will regroup in early 2005 to start work on their second album, which is due later that year.
