I guess to me "indie" means, "not polished". Obviously Radiohead are not "indie", but their albums are somewhat grungy, not perfectly sheening in the moonlight.

But you're right. Eisley are who they are....

There is no definition to back "indie" it's a descriptor, you define it as you wish.

indie doesnt mean you suck, it means you don't yet have a label, a lot of

bands start out independent(Bythemselves, without a label)

And until they got signed, Eisley was independent. There goes the "Eisley was never indie" claim.

Indie refers to independent. And I haven't heard that many artists sing about gumdrop people.

Indie used to refer to independent....now it means a myriad of things. Most "indie" bands we all listen to are on a label of some type.

To me, "indie" encompasses the whole "art over sales" idea, which majors can obviously not subscribe to.

You hit the nail on the head. By that definition, Eisley is, was, and hopefully always will be indie.

And even by other criteria, I think the term still applies. Eisley have a deeply independent spirit, and their songs are like nothing else out there. Regardless of how polished or produced the full-length is, it's the songs themselves that will continue in that vein.

this thread is accurate by the title...because Eisley is no longer independant - indie.
