Did I crack the code? I'm not sure if its been announced or if it was assumed that Telescope Eyes would be the first single, but based on the pic that went out on the e-blast, it appears to be the first single thus probably making it the first video as well. The album has a sticker on it that says "Debut Album featuring Telescope Eyes". I'm kind of disappointed because I don't think this song best reflects Eisley's greatness. The new version just sounds so emotionless to me. I'm hoping Marvy Things gets radio play when the album is released also. What's the rest of the sticker say? I see some sort of a review and then I guess something about touring with Coldplay, Brand New, and Snow Patrol, but I can't make all of it out in that pic. ![]() |

It makes sense for the first single. It's a proven radio song, adding a little pep actually makes it better reflect Eisley's more current work (which isn't nearly as drab or dark as the older stuff), and it's still better than 90-95 percent of all radio and MTV songs at the moment. Besides, I think the second single is generally the better breakout one anyway. _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |

It just sounds too poppy for me. For being their first single I would think they would want to put out something more grandiose. I'm just afraid a lot of people are going to discount them as some bubble gum, pop knockoff like the group "Dream". Do you remember them? I didn't think so. Hopefully the video at least displays them performing the song. It always adds credibility to see the musicians playing their instruments. |

i'm clueless about radio. i don't listen. ha ha....bet you don't either admiral. we'll see what happens. it's not a secret... I announced early on that the Dallas station encouraged WB's radio people to release it... and that it charted 24th most popular in their (major) market; that if it worked in Dallas, it should work in other markets. Again... i'm clueless. Unfortunately, most of our favorite songs aren't on the radio. So... it doesn't surprise me that ya'lls least favorite song on the LP might be a radio single. That's the weirdness of this business. We're not really a radio audience on this forum in general. But Phil Costello, Warner Reprise's radio guy is a great pioneer. He knows his stuff and is well respected. He had much to do with Radiohead breaking in the US when he was at Capital, so... we'll see. He has other favorite songs as well: "I Wasn't Prepared" is one of them. And... the video will be very cool. It has the power to re-position the song. _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. You're right Boyd, I never listen to the radio, why should I when I have so many great cd's! And usually my favorite song on an album isn't made into a single. I just hope Phil's right. However, on Radiohead's first 2 albums the best songs were the singles. I think everyone would agree that "Creep", "Anyone Can Play Guitar", "Fake Plastic Trees", "High and Dry", "Just", "My Iron Lung", and "Street Spirit" were pretty much the best songs. It just sounds like with Telescope Eyes that they will be marketing towards a younger crowd. Its not a bad thing per se, but those types of bands usually come and go. I hope with the 2nd single they can speak more to the adult crowd. It will speak more for Eisley's longetivity. I would definitely be trying to put Marvy Things back in heavy rotation. From my interaction with non-Eisley fans they still like Marvy Things. But, then I'm just rambling... And what are you doing posting on Christmas Eve! Take a break good man! GEESH! |

I think, though, that Eisley is such a different than Radiohead in many ways. And the market is different. There are more segments than there were in the early 90's. More cross-pollination. Eisley seems to be getting accepted by a decently broad market. it's too early to tell, of course and I'm jus thinking outloud. Being so skilled in this area, I took the liberty to chart out this highly scientific graph for you. I had to use calculous and Rigor's Trig.... and some of Einstein's theories to make sure it was acurate: ![]() Of course, the shiny, glowing nebulous is Eisley. ha ha.. Well. Like I said. I really am clueless. ![]() _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. I was under the impression that "I Wasn't Prepared" was going to be the first single off ROom noises. I thought you (BOyd) had said that at some point. Guess I was confused. What you DID say was that around the time of the album release there were also being released mp3's of the other songs that didn't make it, stuff like Sunfeet, what not, IS this still true? _________________ "You're my favorite person." - David Carradine, Kill Bill vol. 2 |

hey ideal... well, i said that WB said they promised to release the other songs...like on an ep or on itunes. Not like by some date or whatever... just, they promised it would happen. hey, on that note, I just realized... it's party coming true. Already, we're talking about releasing one of the songs that didn't make it and perhaps a treasure from the archives of Mogis's handywork. I won't say which ones yet. It could change and I don't want to screw up. It's easy to do as you can see! And, yes. I did say Phil likes "I Wasn't Prepared"... i think - more than T.E.'s. But if you go back and read my earlier references, there was much reporting on their hopeful outlook for T.E. I'm kind of with you guys on all of this... But radio is a weird animal. To make it... it has to have very specific, qualifying criteria. I still think they'll want to release "I Wasn't Prepared". _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. so far i've gotten someone hooked off of the new golly sondra... ahem.. sandra. i look at it this way. if someone doesn't like TE, the songs only go up from there (not saying i believe that, but it's the general taste). plus, we won't be listening to the radio or the music television for eisley... we'll have the CD ![]() hey does this mean we'll be getting a music video for TE, boyd? |

isn't this so not like me? I'm actually blogging. It's the work... I've been a hermit. anyway BNROCKS, yes. I don't want to give the treatment away... all I can say is - i believe it will position the song and the band in a way that will make you guys proud. Stylistically, it's gonna be so credible. Very cool. dark. Totally not glam, totally not pop. This team of film-makers is on the same page as the band; we've been working on sketches for... well, sketches. _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. Cool, now I feel even better, I can't wait. I'll have more opinions on this issue after I hear the whole album. I'm sure there are some hidden gems on it. So when do we find out when the Telescope Eyes single will be released? Its got to be in the next few weeks doesn't it? I know you said AOL was going to have Eisley in rotation in January. The sooner the better, the earlier its released, the more excitement will grow about the album, the more album sales you'll see, the more WB will be behind Eisley for the future, the longer Eisley will keep filling our homes with great music. |

i thought i should mention that i sent my friend who had never before heard Eisley a link to the media player, and he liked Telescope Eyes best... he's really into metal and goth rock and synth pop and other styles of music with confusing names like that, and he does like some more 'normal' stuff too... but he enjoyed Telescope Eyes. _________________ Saellys wrote: Thank God for Arielle ![]() all your kind, they're coming clean they shut their eyes their mess, their scene |

that's cccrazy. (metal goth... but, in a way, i can see it) My comments about T.E. being released are presumtion. I don't know if and when... I always thought they'd NOT release anything early... and I still think that'll be the case. I think they'll let the tunes trickle through College radio and see what sticks. But... then again, the sticker. I guess you're right. Maybe that's on down the road. _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead.
