a question for the band or anyone who might know. was this song (being for the benefit of mr. kite - beatles: lonely hearts club band) eisley's muse for writing mr. pine? i was listening to it the other day and it kinda cliqued for me. to me, it seems to have, sorta, the same feeling in the music. i'm not sure about the lyrics, as i do not know them, but the music does have a similar feel to me. so, was this a fabrication of my own devices or is there really a connection there?

personally, i think the imagery is more like 'Lucy in the sky with diamonds'

the beatles wrote:
''Picture yourself in a boat on a river,
With tangerine trees and marmalade skies
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly,
A girl with kaleidoscope eyes.
Cellophane flowers of yellow and green,
Towering over your head.
Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes,
And she’s gone.
Lucy in the sky with diamonds.
Follow her down to a bridge by a fountain
Where rocking horse people eat marshmellow pies,
Everyone smiles as you drift past the flowers,
That grow so incredibly high.
Newspaper taxis appear on the shore,
Waiting to take you away.
Climb in the back with your head in the clouds,
And you’re gone.
Lucy in the sky with diamonds,
Picture yourself on a train in a station,
With plasticine porters with looking glass ties,
Suddenly someone is there at the turnstyle,
The girl with the kaleidoscope eyes''

No, no ... that's insane, penguin-dog!(Can I call you doguin or something easier to type than "thesinisterpenguin"?)

I actually always thought of 'Marvelous Things' as the heroinless 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds'.

If you mean the inspiration for "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" was drug-inspired: "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" was based on a drawing Julian Lennon made at school. When John asked him what it was Julian said it was Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. When asked about the abbreviation John didn't notice it untill someone mentioned it to him. Jimi Hendrix wrote a song,"The Stars that Play with Laughing Sam's Dice" (I don't know if it was realeased as a b-side or on a posthumous album). Although I don't remember the lyrics right now, the title makes it seem that its a commentary on the use of LSD by his fellow musicians. Think about it. The stars that play with LSD.

I must stop myself.
I apologize, I can be such a serious-minded smart aleck when it comes to trivial facts.

I just noticed something funny... I have a quote by both John Lennon and Jimi Hendrix. Interesting.
