I got back from the in-store about an hour ago. Great show, my only problem was that I wanted it to go longer, haha, lots longer. Well, that and the fact that I wasn't very close to the stage, but whatever. I couldnt' go to the concert because I am officially under 21 (boos the crocodile). Was anyone else there? |

I was there. I was right up front, but I didn't bring a camera or anything. Here's something I just wrote in my Xanga: Quote: I went to the in-store performance at Sonic Boom Records, and I am dearly kicking myself for not bringing my camera - although to be honest, you can't really capture what they're like in any photograph. The girls played semi-acoustically, which made it an enjoyably intimate little show. I wonder how many boardies were there that I didn't recognize? I was the short fellow in a grey hoodie, blue Quiksilver shirt, and green & black beanie. (tangent.) Anyway, after an absolutely beautiful set they signed stuff for people. (I had brought the Room Noises liner, but some nice girl gave me her sherriart litho for free. Thanks, if you're reading this somehow) First in the line was Chauntelle, who was as personable as I'd always heard she was. We talked a little about the band being sick ("that was more last week," according to her, which is good), the terribleness of that night's main show being 21+, and the fact that I'll be able to see them next year due to being in college there. Then she handed the lithoposter to Stacy, who gave me a handshake and a smile (which I have to admit made my heart skip a beat, shut up Kyle). I was going to compliment her performance of Just Like We Do, but I forgot somehow -- I think because I was too busy yelling "Boyd!! You will sign this!" We had a very rad, and fairly long conversation about a number of things. What a nice dude. After a bit I finally ended up working my way back into the signing line and to a rather tired-looking Sherri. While she was signing the posterlith I pulled a couple boxes of Botan Rice Candy out of my pocket, which I had gotten here in Idaho at Ron's Super 1 to give to the band because they like weird stuff like that, and handed them to her. She was pleasantly surprised I think and asked me what the heck they were (chewy orangy things), and we talked for a minute about that and other stuff. By the time I got to Weston and Jon I was kind of tired, so I didn't really talk to them, sorry guys. They're still the bomb drizzle. As I was leaving, Boyd hollered out a goodbye from his roadie-dad position somewhere behind the band.
There was something incredibly cool about Eisley that I couldn't quite put my finger on for a while. The thing was that I almost felt like I already knew them, although of course I had never met any of them (besides Boyd, and then only online) before. It wasn't just that I knew about them, but they were so filled with sheer realness and personality and normalness that I could easily imagine myself becoming friends with any of them given different circumstances. Yes, they may be beautiful and talented, but beautiful and talented like real people are, not like plastic people pretend to be. And that made for a very enjoyable end to a very enjoyable two-day stint in the emerald city. I'm not a good writer late at night. Here's what they played, probably out of order except for the first and last songs: Golly Sandra (which I must say, sounds a little naked without the drums and slide guitar) Telescope Eyes Memories I Wasn't Prepared Marvelous Things Brightly Wound Just Like We Do |

My friend and I were there at both the instore and the show in Seattle. No words can describe seeing this band live and in person, unbelievable. They were all very nice at the instore and we had a nice long chat with Boyd which was cool. We told Stacy how much we love Just Like We Do and asked them why they dont play Head Against The Sky anymore. They said "it just really isn't them anymore and it's so old." It was well worth the trip all the way from Toronto Canada! |
