My buddy Andrew and I flew from Toronto to Vancouver BC, then drove down to Portland and Seattle to see Eisley twice. Now that it is over all I can say is that it was so worth it. The band is so tight live. The Portland show was in a very small venue called Nocturnal. We took a place right off to the right side of the stage. All I will say is seeing Eisley live and up so close is a magical experience. They opened up with My Lovely and finished with Just Like We Do which is awesome live. After the show we headed over to the merch booth and dropped about 50 bucks each on tshirts, a hoodie, stickers and buttons. Seattle Instore - The girls played an acoustic set which was very cool and intimate. They opened with Golly Sandra and also played Memories, Telescope Eyes, Brightly Wound, I Wasn't Prepared and Just Like We Do....I may be missing one song they played. Just Like We Do is one of those songs when played live you are just mesmerized by the sheer beauty of what you are hearing. The sweet guitar playing of Stacy and the vocals of her and Sherri just melt together...you can't help but feel so damn good when listening to Eisley. After their acoustic set they signed autographs and posed for pictures with anyone. First up was Chauntelle. We told her that we came all the way from Toronto Canada and she was like what?? Boyd overheard this and couldn't believe we would come that far to see the band. Chauntelle then leaned over and told Stacy and Sherri about our big road trip which was very cool. Stacy seems pretty shy at first but she'll open up after awhile. I complemented her on Just Like We Do and she thanked us and told us how it went under a bunch of lyric and chord changes until she got it right. Weston asked us how the road trip was going and we told him it was going great. We asked Boyd why they don't play Head Against The Sky anymore and he said something like "because they hate me", meaning himself. lol. He said that he really loves the song but they haven't played it in years. Sherri said that it was "so old and just isn't what we sound like anymore." We each got a picture with the whole band which was really cool. After holding up the line for what seemed like forever we moved along and talked to Boyd again for about 10 minutes....I thanked him for telling us about the band we love each and every day in their lives, such a nice guy. Seattle show - Once again their live show was mindblowing...I really can't desribe the experience. It was a really fun night with The Elected coming on stage for Sea King and giving a little statue that they name The Sea King, fittingly. At the end of the show I got a setlist...very cool. In ending I just want to say thank you to Eisley for making such beautiful music and for being so down to earth. I can't see them playing small venues for much longer, it's just a matter of time until they break to the next level of success.....Good luck guys! |
