I was wondering why the song was changed from the Laughing City EP to the new version on the Room Noises album? I thought that Telescope Eyes version from the Laughing City Ep was just an awesome song and the whole reason how I got into Eisley. |

Ask the label people. I can't blame them for wanting something tried and tested for the radio, but I hope they see down the road that their suggestions didn't work as well as letting Eisley just do their own thing. And oddly enough, the band wasn't exactly crazy about the Laughing City version last time I heard, either. Anyway, welcome. _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |

i think the general consensus is that it was changed to better suit radio play. It and Marvelous Things are what's being pushed out on the radio by Warner. That is if i remember right, it's been a while since this topic came up. Just so you know, the version on Laughing City is the second revision. The original TE is on the independent eps (you can get it off of www.orangegoldandgreen.com ) EDIT: yeah what antrider said, he beat me to it _________________ "Religions have started on lesser revelations" - investor on MarketWatch.com |

You should go to http://www.orangegoldandgreen.com/ and listen to an even earlier version from EP1 & 2 (before the Laughing City EP). It is even more different. The forum has tried to answer this question before, to no avail. Most people seem to like all the new versions of the songs, but many still aren't totally happy with all the changes. I think the answer we came up with is that they are trying to grow musically. Maybe they can be attributed to "growing pains." You seem pretty new, so I would go to OG&G and listen to all of EP1. Their earlier stuff seems to have more "je ne sais quoi." JD P.S. they both beat me to it. _________________ "Well, hopefully that's our job, to strap rockets onto everything." - Adam Savage, Mythbusters |

Thanks for that link. And thanks for that welcome. I can see how the newer version would be better for radio play, but I still like the Laughing City version better. But that all equates to personal taste. Though the unreleased version is really good as well. In any incarnation they song is just good. |

We can whine all we want, but honestly it's still better than most of what you'll find on the radio in America. I've pointed out too that we have more than one version of the song to enjoy or ignore. There will almost certainly be another single, so this one will be just one of the crowd before long. _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |
