They're called hands here, too. I just think it's illogical. Confused

I have three analogs, one from the 50's and two from the 60's. Old school is fun!

Is anyone getting an Apple watch? They kinda seem silly to me at that price point.

To the surprise of absolutely no one, I have an Apple Watch.

And my watch face is digital, because analog watches are ridiculous throwbacks for the same kind of people who like to convince themselves that vinyl records sound better (than literally any other format that exists). I will, however, switch to the Mickey Mouse face when I go to Disneyland later this year, ease of telling time be damned.

Do you still check in on this forum or did you just know someone mentioned Apple Watch. Very Happy I wouldn't get one; it's more of a fashion choice than a practical tool. I do have an iPad and iPod.

I just figured those few old-timers who remember me would be curious, so I went to look if there was a post about it already. I check the forums occasionally anyway, but it's almost like I'd be letting people down if I didn't post about it Wink

On the one hand you're right; mechanical analog watches are technologically obsolete.

On the other hand, I'm wearing a watch from 1958 today. Do you think your apple watch will still work in 57 years? Smile

Also, how do you like it so far?

For what it's worth, most mechanical watches from 57 years ago don't still work today. But I don't think mechanical watches will be nearly as popular fifty years from now as they are today. We've gone centuries and watches still basically did the exact same thing: told you when it was. We're finally entering a new era where the same space on your wrist can now be dedicated to answering that same old question, *and* do so much more.

We're not at this point yet, but I think it will be only a very short time period before non-smart watches become extremely rare. The problem isn't that they got worse, but that reasonably speaking you can wear only one watch, and as they become increasingly useful, to wear a regular watch means you're *not* wearing your smartwatch. No subtle notifications, no health and fitness monitoring (or at least not as good/convenient). No incredibly useful feature that hasn't even been invented yet but will be within five years.

Love it. And Apple Pay + Apple Watch is like living in the future.
