I recorded an instrumental version of Head Against The Sky. It's not perfect but I think it's fairly close, though it is missing the outro at the end.

I threw it up on my PureVolume site because I didn't know how else to host it. I reccomend downloading it because the streaming kinda makes it sound swooshy.

All the sounds you hear were made with a Yamaha keyboard and recorded with Garage Band on a Mac.

What do you guys think? Did I do Eisley proud?

The link is working okay on my end. Try going to PureVolume.com and searching for Glenn Garthwaite.

that was rather good. i think they'd be proud that someone so faithfully wanted to recreate their song. i was inspired to figure out those guitar parts since watching chauntelle play that song the other night. which bits of your instrumental were recorded live, and which were done using software samples? just curious. yay for garage band!

i've dabbled a bit with that program too. a coldplay cover.

Thanks all!

I would love to submit this for Orange, Gold, and Green. I kinda wanted to test the waters here first and see what people thought.

Richicha, all of it was recorded live using an old yamaha keyboard. I threw some amp, distortion, and reverb effects on some of it using Garage Band, but there were no software samples used at all.

The most frustrating part, aside from figuring it all out by ear, was recording the drums because I had to do it one element at a time. First the hats, then the snare, then the kick, and so on. That was tedious. And I probably spent way too much time stressing over how to make a keyboard sound like a guitar. At a certain point I just gave up and said well this will have to be good enough. And then I just got lazy at the end and decided it didn't need the organ outro. Razz

Originally I had attempted to put vocals on this . . . and that's all I have to say about that. It was promptly deleted after a well deserved grimace.

I also made a dance remix of Golly Sandra that I posted a couple days ago but I'm not sure that anyone ever saw the link. Perhaps I'll throw it back up on PureVolume.

Oh Hannah, before I forget.
I don't think the "I Wasn't Prepared For Hysteria" link is working on your site. Was going to email but forgot. Smile

That is just plain amazing. I'm amazed that it's all done with a keyboard. When I heard the first part where the guitars would have come in, I thought it was a guitar.
